RISM: B/1 and A/1 to go online soon
This week I heard directly from RISM that their B/1 series will be available as an online database either at the end of 2014 or beginning of 2015. This will be followed sometimes later in 2015 by the availability of A/1 as an online database (which would apply to numerous works on IMSLP). The intere...

Re: IMSLP & IAML
It was an interesting meeting - didn't quite go in the direction that I'd hoped, but it's clear that some people are interested in pursuing some kind of relationship or at the very least, open communication between IMSLP and the library community. At the very least, I think one can expect a panel di...

IMSLP & IAML
At this year's annual IAML conference (International Association of Music Libraries) held in Antwerp (July 13-18), I'll be discussing IMSLP with several people including planners for next year's conference (to be held in New York City). One of the agenda items for our discussion is brainstorming how...

Re: Linking to Hathitrust
Maybe this is a bit late, but if non-US people can't view HathiTrust items, maybe those of us who are able to access the site should set up a cooperative effort to download the material for IMSLP. Is this viable? And if so, how do we set up such a group?
Librettos
A friend of mine who's a music librarian asked me to ask the IMSLP community: How come librettos are not part of IMSLP? Shouldn't they be?

Publishers & VIAF
I note in composer templates there's a place for VIAF identifying numbers. Wouldn't it be helpful if the same can be done for publishers? (I know this is a big request; some publishers are individuals, some publishers are firms, and some are both.) Note that I'm not asking IMSLP to supply the number...

Re: DIAMM and IMSLP
The choice of the libraries to not let anybody photograph or even view some books is also perfectly legal. I don't believe it is perfectly legal. It's a question of their policies which may or may not have any legal basis. If the item is public domain, there is no legal restriction to photographing...

Re: DIAMM and IMSLP
I personally don't feel bullied at all. I feel the request to remove perfectly legal images -- for whatever non-legal reason -- is bullying. From my personal point of view looking at the larger trend of things, I think projects organized with the strictures of DIAMM are not going to be able to susta...

Re: DIAMM and IMSLP
If IMSLP removes the DIAMM images, what measures will IMSLP take to insure itself against similar (possibly even worse) bullying tactics in the future?

Re: DIAMM and IMSLP
Perpetual copyright is a UK law. The idea of perpetual copyright is literally against the Constitution of the United States which guarantees a public domain (when that public domain occurs is determined by the US Congress). So it's the same situation as with Peter Pan - it's under copyright in the U...

Music publisher catalogs
I have access to quite a few music publisher catalogs (those that are public domain of course). I see there are some catalogs on IMSLP. Is there any interest in this kind of material? If it is of interest (or even limited interest), could anyone specify what kind of catalogs would be useful to have ...

Re: DIAMM and IMSLP
With all due respect Andrew, I think it would be wise not just to read the Wikipedia article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Portrait_Gallery_and_Wikimedia_Foundation_copyright_dispute but also those articles mentioned in the links (some of the links in Wikipedia are broken; I've verified the...

Re: Compilations
This is really helpful! I know lots of work goes on behind the scenes so I just want to facilitate things. Thank you Cypressdome! Look for my upload of a compilation by Carl Lafite by Sunday.
