Re: Upcoming changes

I don't know any details about the case where files which were not supposed to be accessible have been downloaded from a library and put on IMSLP but I feel that there are two options: 1. The library had the files somewhere on their computer where it really was not accessible from the outside unless...

Re: Upcoming changes

But they're not. Also, I'm not taking about scores imported from libraries, I'm telling about scores scanned or copied from libraries and uploaded on IMSLP without their authorization. Such files arguably shouldn't be on the site in the first place, now that they are being monetized and Mr. Guo has...

Re: Upcoming changes

Just a thought: Can I start creating a number of new accounts, upload a decent number of files, get a contributor membership and then sell those accounts on the black market?

Re: Upcoming changes

I still want to come back to the discussion about the risk of IMSLP getting unplugged from one day to the other because I feel this really connects to the root of why many people are concerned about the membership model. Basically, I see two reasons why a sudden switching off could happen. The first...

Re: Upcoming changes

Some more thoughts from my side: Concerning contributions that fall under a CC licence, as they do not fall under the 15 seconds rule, there is no need to discuss about whether there are potential issues with the NC licence or not. Another point about CC licenced editions is that if people stop uplo...

Re: Upcoming changes

I've been wondering about whether this is all partly linked to the fact that some German libraries might be worried about funding for themselves if people download scores from IMSLP rather than direct from the library website. Less traffic for them might translate into less funding. I have noticed ...

Re: Upcoming changes

We should simply think of better ways of hosting the scores, where the resources are more distributed and major decisions can be discussed before putting into practise. This is actually a good point. Since all the material on IMSLP is either CC or in Public Domain, one could simply (probably it's n...

Re: Upcoming changes

Disclaimer: I am not a native speaker and have never talked/written about such subjects before, so my text might not be the most elegant one. When I noticed that there was suddenly a star behind my user name on IMSLP, I wondered what this was supposed to mean. When I found out that it was due to bei...

Mendelssohn Symphony Nr. 2

The autograph score of the arrangement for two pianos from Darmstadt is actually the one of Symphony Nr. 3 even if the title page says Nr. 2.

I'm not sure it is an error: The Manuscript from Darmstadt also has c instead of e.

Re: Trio Sonata in D minor, Wq.145 (H.569) (Bach, C.Ph.E)

According to this source, Wq. 145 is to a certain extent identical with BWV 1036 as it was a work by both J.S. and C.P.E. Bach.

Re: TWV 44:42

That's of course true, but yet both pieces are identically, they are just labelled differently in the two existing copies since at that time nobody cared too much about whether something was a Concerto, a Septet or a Sonata.
