Because imslp wants sustainable funding. Something one has to pay. imslp does not need money, because " income we receive from various sources have been enough to maintain the site so far". it wants to control. Why not start by making membership completely voluntary...with no penalty for t...

Agree. But few are questioning his motivations. No one is supposed to carry out such a decision without consulting the community. Edward seems to be fully aware of this.
