Re: Upcoming changes

I will be looking first to hire someone to work on the administrative and janitorial side of IMSLP full-time. As Coulonnus writes above, why is this necessary? This has always been done by volunteers. Why change, without our permission or our support, to a business structure that pays people to do ...

Re: Upcoming changes

I expect that Edward will be posting in this thread quite soon, but in the meantime, I'd like to offer a really lovely paragraph from his post in the moderator forum (for whatever reason, it didn't make it into his public announcement here). I think it gives a very good sense of his motivations and ...

Re: Unable to upload from Add File page

My first two assumptions would be: a) that it was a temporary problem with the IMSLP server (have you tried again?) b) that it was a temporary problem with your computer or network. Have you tried uploading to other websites (email attachments, etc.) recently?

Re: Upcoming changes

http://imslp.org/wiki/IMSLP:Membership_Q&A I didn't write the wording of the banner - the person who did is aware of the Q&A. New files are available to all users after a few days. The banner text is what it is for simplicity, but if you have text you want to put on there you can let me kno...

Re: Vivaldi cello concerts

Generoso (I think...): Belatedly, as to taking photos of manuscripts (or notated published scores) with one's phone's camera page-by-page, I've been considering that as an alternative to my (probably no longer adequate) flatbed scanner (at least, now that I have a phone with a camera. How was your ...

Re: Upcoming changes

I'm not sure I understand what all the fuss is about the wait period. Imagine if you were instead shown a 15-second ad—then it would be completely in line with Youtube, Hulu, Spotify, etc.

Re: IMSLP Merchandise

We really should have a retailer or online retailer set up once again to sell merchendise to help keep IMSLP funded. If some merchendise does pop up at some point, I would be willing to buy a few things, no matter what they may be! I unfortunately wouldn't be able to help with such a thing really. ...

Faster Internet Speeds and IMSLP

It's really amazing how far technology has progressed since 2007 (when I started using IMSLP—the first iPhone came out the same day I found IMSLP, actually). Not only is internet pretty much everywhere for a lot of people, it's INCREDIBLY fast, even with cell connections. I remember a time when a sc...

Re: IMSLP website(s) not working for me?

I think the "edit" date might have confused some people. Interestingly, my attempts to send emails to Edward have bounced, so it must be some major server issue (maybe we're seeing mirror servers when the website goes up?)

Re: Palestrina complete works.

Hi there - this thread really interested me, regarding the B&H edition of Palestrina's complete works. I had two questions really 1) Do B&H still publish/sell hard copy editions of the complete works? Judging from their catalogue, not this one (Brahms and Reger are still in print among the ...

Re: What criteria is there for uploading scores to IMSLP?

You really think all those 1000s of scores from unknown 19th century composers are all that great either? Ha ha, no I don't. At the risk of getting booted off of this site, I happen to find much of Beethoven and Mozart to be trite. However, my point was that with modern typesetting software like Fi...

Re: Help!

Hello Yair, Am I correct that you are in the 3rd grade in elementary school? First make a list of the people who are interested and the instruments they play. Second, if you have any music teachers in your school, speak with them. You probably don't have enough musicians for an orchestra, but your ...

Thanks for catching this—it's been noted on the work's page. In the future, please make such posts in the "work page issues" forum or similar, not "IMSLP Announcements."
