Sadly, it is increasingly common elsewhere as well, and it happens often enough to warrant projects like Tor and Freenet. Be glad that it isn't a common practice where you live. Except Comcast isnt doing ...

Except this isn't about nations "mangling" packets. It's about enforcing copyright laws accross borders. Attempting to enforce copyright laws across borders equals "mangling" packets between nations. Whose responsibility is it to ensure that Canadian data packets which contain d...

There were some legal findings in relation to Napster and other recording-sharing services that found the opposite - the ISP is held blameless if the data are only temporarily stored on its servers (i.e. as part of the store-and-forward way the internet works) in direct to response to a request ori...

While there have been some Canadian setbacks with regards to the sharing of performed music on the public internet with u...

To whom, exactly are IMSLP distributing?

In any case there's only the law of one country: the country where you distribute the music. That is, the country where the end user is sitting. It's not that cut and dried. If you look at it another way, IMSLP's servers only sends and receives information with its ISP, which is obviously in Canada...

technical assistance?

I'm a long-time IMSLP lurker and hoped to have time to assist the project in some way for a while now. The recent events with UE are terrible and my thanks go out to Feldmahler for keeping it going for so long and putting so much work into the site, along with the other contributors and admins. I ju...
