Re: J.H.Kapteijn

Thank you guys so much for your assistance! I will definitely send those emails...tomorrow (it's a quarter after eleven where I am). And Peter, additionally thank you for your generous offer, looks like I will need it...I could translate into Spanish, but that doesn't really help here.

Re: Salabert Chopin

Too bad...for me, the point of scanning this would be to get Cortot's suggestions/edits. Maybe I should look for the original 1917 nontranslated Senart edition- although I predict that would be nearly hopeless. Glancing around, it would appear that the 1951 copyright is indeed a fraud and that the r...

Re: Mahler, Overrated?

Between Wagner and Schoenberg ? That really makes absolutely no sense...Mahler's camp was completely different from Schoenberg's, even in the latter's early years (unless one compares only the sheer size of the orchestras of Gurrelieder and Mahler's symphonies...which is slightly irrelevant). In fac...

Re: Salabert Chopin

I meant that I would upload them in 2013. (It takes me a while to scan things. :) )

Salabert Chopin

I'm thinking about starting to (only starting to) scan the Cortot edition of the Chopin Etudes, which at first glance appeared to be from 1914 (that's when Cortot dated it). However, closer inspection has revealed: Copyright by Editions Maurice Senart 1917 Copyright by Editions Maurice Senart 1930 C...

Re: J.H.Kapteijn

Oh, and it now turns out that someone else is the head now...Susanne van Els, s.vanels@staff.koncon.nl. Not sure why they apparently didn't update their site...
So I'll have to email her instead.

Re: J.H.Kapteijn

Wow, thank you for the information! To think that I figured Gravenhage was some little town in the middle of nowhere... I have emailed Prof. Kuyken about this and hope to get a reply soon (or at all). The only problem with this is that I think Kapteijn is a rather common name (or at least not uncomm...

Re: Chopin Editions

Well, I guess in my spare time I could crop a few of these and create PDFs from them. Or anyone else could, for that matter. But I'd be happy to do a few. Interesting collection, thanks for the link.

Re: Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini: transpositions?

Well, it was originally composed (and published) in 1934, so it'll be copyright in the US until 2030. IMSLP is currently denying access to files PD in Canada but copyright in the US because of the large volume of traffic coming from the latter country. I wish Finale provided a method of transpositio...

Re: J.H.Kapteijn

Several years ? That's incredible dedication...I only spent about 45 minutes (pathetic, but my only general resources are the subscriptionless Internet, one solitary volume of Grove, and Slonimsky's Lectionary of Music, which are far too broad for this kind of thing). Amazing how someone can turn ou...

Re: J.H.Kapteijn

I guess no one's ever heard of him. Maybe I should retypeset the score (it's only 2 pages) and list him with a first name of 'J.H.' (already done with W.C. Handy), and release my file under cc-by to get around the issue of publisher? Or just forget it?

Re: Dussek, Musica Antica Bohemica

The edits in the other MAB submissions appear to have been considered urtext in nature, and therefore subject to a much-reduced copyright term (25 years, I believe). Therefore, anything like that published before 1984 is PD. Which is also how all the Paderewski editions of Chopin are PD- published i...

Maybe just in case, an extra notice could be put in the template saying how exactly wikipedia links should go in that box?...
