Re: Overrated, Overused, Overdone, underrated etc.

I hope this doesn't escalate, but I have to agree with Sixtus on this one. The threads, albeit similar in spirit, were not about the same topic (unless "Violoncello" happens to be a synonym for "Mahler"), and they were on topic (Music Related). I don't think that shutting down th...

Re: How can I ask sysop to edit the locked pages?

I reduced the protection level of the category pages and the template, so you should be able to edit them now. I'm not sure what's the matter with the MediaWiki message. In fact, the page doesn't actually exist. In the automatically generated TOCs, it is automatically translated according to user pr...

Re: Creating work pages with no uploads?

Pages should only be created when a score is available for upload. One of the reasons is that it is not possible in the category listing to distinguish which work pages are empty.

Yes, but the system doesn't know that as long as you're logged out ;) Maybe "logged out users" rather than "unregistered users" would have been more accurate.

Re: Adding links to work pages for online recordings

For unregistered users the pages are cached to reduce server load. That means that the page updates itself only after the cached version has expired, which should take at most 3 days.

Re: Most Interesting Italian Music Terms You Have Come Across

First, allegroamabile, I think it's giusto, not guisto. Correct. The "gi" stands for a sound similar to the "J" in "John". Ravvivando Is it real? It's certainly a real Italian word, to be specific the gerund of ravvivare "to revive", "to enliven", e...

Let's just say it's has a taste for a deeper type of music. "Music began when Arnold Schoenberg has invented ze tone row (...) Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, all has been superficial. Schlagers! Or like you say, flagellated cream." ("Dr. Domgraf-Fassbaender", The Hoffnung Inte...

Yes, thanks for the link. Unfortunately, it seems that the files can only be viewed with a Windows-only software, so I can't access them right now.

Anyway, if someday somebody would upload a score to IMSLP, I'd be grateful.

J.S. Bach, Concerto No.5 in D minor, BWV 596

I'd be curious to take a look at the score of this piece. Unfortunately it is not included in the BGA. Not an urgent request by any means, but if there is a public domain score out there that anybody could locate and digitize, it would be great.

Re: Hands free wireless page turning device

you don't have to print them to paper with expensive inks - a very environmentally sound way to read and work with a full library of music, i should think. Actually I wonder if this is true. Printing a score requires ink and paper only once. Working with an electronic device requires electric energ...

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

Whoa, what did andrewilson do wrong? Abusing the forums to advertise his website, a.k.a. SPAM. (He made even more nonsensical posts in other threads, now deleted.) It's OK for regular contributors to advertise their personal websites in their signature. It's definitely NOT OK for passers-by to adve...
