Re: Happy 10th birthday, IMSLP

Hey - I baked my first cake too! :) Didn't turn out so bad either.

Also, mirrors I and J were added, though they don't seem too much help in your particular case (they are good for NA/Europe).

Re: Upcoming changes

This doesn't make sense. If you register as a Canadian not-for-profit, you do not need to register in the US, let alone in all 50 states. To make such a statement implies you have not researched the matter. I personally run a Canadian not-for-profit organization so I have been through these kegalit...

Re: Upcoming changes

Just a quick note that I've been tied up with implementing new features for the 10th anniversary next week (which features, by the way, benefit both members and non-members), but I will post more responses in this thread once that is done and live.

Re: Upcoming changes

Please, do not put words in my mouth or use fallacies against people who disagree with you. You're only managing to antagonize people by doing so. Especially when people are only asking legitimate questions and trying to offer a constructive perspective. Ok, please let me know where I put words in ...

Re: Upcoming changes

1. I have heard from two different lawyers (that don't know each other and that happen to be amateur musicians) that in the event some contributors wanted to file a lawsuit (e.g. as a class action) against IMSLP, they might have a case, at least in some jurisdictions, on the basis of vice of consen...

Do tell... this is news to me.

Re: Upcoming changes

Did you see the two "lol"s? This is entertainment for me. Thank you for confirming that you are a troll. The most effective and painless way to fund IMSLP on a long term basis would be an annual fund-raising campaign through Kickstarter or IndieGogo. (I prefer IndieGogo because they permi...

Re: Upcoming changes

I still await a proper response regarding the financial transparency and alternate funding issues. Why do we users/contributors of IMSLP not have access to financial information? How are potential subscribers supposed to trust IMSLP to use their funds properly when there are no numbers presented wh...

Re: Upcoming changes

Why am I bringing up these numbers? I think in all the emotional discussions in this thread there lacks a certain quantitative aspect to put things in perspective, which I think also helps explain a bit of my thinking process and why I reached the conclusion I did. A major difference between Wikipe...

Re: Upcoming changes

... why do you believe you have the standing to comment on the need for paid staff, when you haven't contributed a single edit? Why did you open a public discussion if you're not going to listen to anyone but yourself and Carl? I welcome thoughtful constructive criticism from users (I've responded ...

Re: Upcoming changes

As a long-time IMSLP user I would be glad to contribute towards server costs if the relevant information were made public. For example, what are the ongoing costs, how much has been donated and how much is stll needed towards certain targets. Despite the advice of your librarian contacts I have yet...

Re: Upcoming changes

FOR SHAME - ALL OF YOU. SHAME ON YOU!!! It seems to me a bit ironic that the people who say things like this have contributed exactly 0 edits to IMSLP. http://imslp.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/s59438msl0 http://imslp.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Alma I'm not entirely sure why you believe you h...

Re: Upcoming changes

First, let me echo Christian's post a while back (http://imslpforums.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&p=40301#p40301) - I think Christian's post touched on one of the fundamental reasons for the change. Ultimately, the increased focus on funding is intended to better match IMSLP with the type of society we...

Re: Upcoming changes

http://imslp.org/wiki/IMSLP:Membership_Q&A I didn't write the wording of the banner - the person who did is aware of the Q&A. New files are available to all users after a few days. The banner text is what it is for simplicity, but if you have text you want to put on there you can let me know...
