Hi, I assume that these files are the raw, uncompressed scans of music in TIFF, GIF etc. format, and not the final PDF format?

Everybody is entitled to their own opinions on whether a piece of music is a symphony or not. I don't wish to get into any arguments. If I think a composition is a symphony, I'll take it as it is. For example, I consider Beethoven's Choral Fantasy and Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations as concertos for...

So therefore the definition and classification of a symphony is quite subjective and open to different interpretations?

I agree, the more the extension, the more the "symphony" in a classical sense loses its identity.

Also, what constitutes a symphony? Can it be by linking unrelated movements or works into one symphony? Or do every individual movements have to have some sort of structure as in the classical symphony? Or can the structure be more flexible and expansive as in late Romantic (eg. Mahler) symphonies?

Good question. I suppose at 4 years old, a child is too young to be aware of his right to claim copyright for his own compositions. Maybe 12?

I'd like to scan 9 3/8 by 12 1/4 inch scores published by Dover and Boosey and Hawkes that obviously will not fit into an A4 scanner. Same thing goes for the Kalmus conductor scores at 10 by 13 inches.

The intro to the Rite of Spring originates from a Lithuanian folk song. But the entire work is full of snippets from folk songs. Same thing with Petrushka.
