Another Sibley correction

Hello once again! I have just imported the three Violin Sonatas by Boisdeffre from Sibley. It was not until I had uploaded them that I noticed that sonatas No. 2 (Op.50) and No. 3 (Op.67) have each other's solo violin parts. Could one of the mods please help to restore the solo parts to their rightf...

Re: Piano Competition Pieces and Concerti

If I played piano at that level (which I definitely do not  ), I would play something like Chopin's "Fantaisie-Impromptu", but it is so popular it has probably been done to death. I have just discovered (right here on IMSLP) transcriptions for solo piano of the "Egmont" and ...

Re: Mendelssohn - Ruy Blas overture (Op.95)

Thanks once again for your help. Sorry it's been so intermittent. If I don't know enough about a work or composer to make a semi-intelligent attempt at adding information, I leave it alone for others more knowledgeable than I to upload. At the moment I seem to be going through a phase of hunting for...

Mendelssohn - Ruy Blas overture (Op.95)

Hello Admins,

I have just imported the 2-piano (4 hands) reduction of Mendelssohn's "Ruy Blas" overture from Sibley, but somehow it managed to get through twice. Could I please ask one of you to delete the extra copy.

Thank you,

Re: Piece for Sop, Guitar, Violin, Clarinet

This is probably a piece that comes up whenever the combination of soprano + clarinet is mentioned - but you could do something creative with "Der Hirt Auf dem Felsen" (Shepherd on the Rock), D.965 by Schubert. You could divide up the piano part between the guitar and the violin somehow. a...

Re: "IMSLP's biggest holes" - Most Wanted Scores

There are still a few works to be uploaded to make up the Schubert Complete Works (Breitkopf & Härtel). Just glancing briefly through the list, it looks like we are missing: - Volume 3 (Octets) - Octet, D.72 - most of Volume 8 (works for piano and one instrument)- only the Rondeau Brillant D.895...

Re: Favorite Climaxes

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the climaxes in Mahler's 6th. Among others already mentioned in the forum, here are some of my favorites (if I don't mention where in the piece, assume it's somewhere in the piece): The second hammer blow in the finale to Mahler's 6th The ending of Stravinsky's Ri...

Re: Alto/Bass duets?

Soprano/Tenor duets are everywhere - you could take one of those and transpose it a few notes down. It depends on the kind of accompaniment you will have at your disposal - piano would obviously be easier to shift than full orchestra.

You have a choir and instrumental musicians at your disposal who have the skill to prepare a new Mass every month??

You are an extremely fortunate person!

Re: What is your favorite aria for a coloratura?

Beat me to it...I was going to say both of the Queen of the Night's arias from "The Magic Flute".

what's that definition of a coloratura singer - "someone who can't find the right note, but has a wild time hunting for it" or something like that.

Alfonso und Estrella (Just for you, Aldona ;) I saw a recording with Edith Mathis, Peter Schreier, Theo Adam, DFD, etc....and ordered it without having seen which opera...even better now... That's the best recording!!! (And I've heard 3 now.) I LOVE that opera. Definitely Schubert at his best - you...
