You would also need the permission from the person who transcribed the music as well.

Imslp, should the archive be solely accessed by the administrators, copyright reviewers and the uploaders/submitters only? You can give a password so that the submitter can only access or edit the files he submitted, while the reviewers can be given a master password that gives access to all the fil...

I see what you mean. Too often there are people who have good scanning devices but poor editing software, and vice-versa. So this repository would solve this problem.

Unless of course, you're name is indeed Rimsky-Korsakov (same name, different person and time).

Yes, Mendelssohn's Song Without Words. This is a bit strange for me. It is as if Mendelssohn intended the piano to replace the human voice for these compositions. I don't know.
Also, Dvorak also wrote a piece called Symphonic Variations, which is basically a theme and variations work for orchestra.

There appears to be a footnote of some sort at the end of the foreword and analysis, perhaps stating a reprint, but I don't understand Japanese. Perhaps there is someone in the forums that can help translate? Also, Carolus. The fact that Supraphon put in a 1987 copyright notice at the main title pag...

I see. Like Carolus said, it's a good idea. It can also serve as a backup system as well.

I thought a "song" requires the presence of a human voice with an instrumental accompaniment. Any music which precludes the human voice, therefore, is not a song in a classical sense.

Thank you Carolus for your reply. The Bolero score published by Ongaku No Tomo is the full orchestral score (in miniature score format). It is not a reprint of the Durand edition since the engraving is different altogether. It appears to be a new engraving, with the instrument names in French. Maybe...

So therefore I should use the staff size to determine whether or not to scan in 300dpi or 600dpi? Maybe let's say if a staff size is 3/4" or higher I can use 300dpi. If it's any lower then I'd use 600dpi.

Copyright status of "Bolero" and "Ma Vlast&qu

Hi, I have two miniature scores here that I would like to contribute to IMSLP. I would like to know the copyright status of these two works in Canada. The first work is Bedrich Smetana's cycle of symphonic poems - Ma Vlast. All six movements are published in one score. The copyright notice states: C...
