.zip is the only archival format accepted - see http://imslp.org/wiki/IMSLP:File%20formats for more information.

Re: Detailed usage statistics

I've never seen anything that specific, but there is this special page for all-time statistics on individual files (all-time actually meaning - if memory serves - since early October 2010, which is when the download counts were implemented). Also there's this text file listing the sitewide total dow...

Re: Prokofiev Op. 29+ Public Domain?

Melodia wrote:... his music isn't PD in Canada until 2014 anyway.
This would be the case if he had died in 1963, but his Canadian copyright term actually expired on 1 Jan. 2004. I don't really know what OP was getting at when he said the 50-year period "has just passed".

Re: Can we use scores from Hathi Trust?

Well, you don't need to, but it would have the effect of freeing them up for EU status. Technically it would not affect their download availability at all. Maybe extract the prefaces into separate files and still upload?

Re: Sibelius 6 Songs, Op.86 wrongly locked

Composer died in 1957, so under copyright in the EU until 1 Jan. 2028. Anything published after 1922 is subject to a US copyright term of date of publication plus 95 years, running to the end of the year; this item's term in that country will expire 1 Jan. 2019. Since the corporate entity that owns ...

Re: George Onslow not Georges

Every reliable reference source from the New Grove, to Cobbett's to Baudim Jam and Vivienne Niaux and R.H.R. Silvertrust (his various biographers) refer to him correctly as George. Well, the most recent citation LC uses is from the New Grove (not the current version), and they give it as: Onslow, (...

Re: Paper on Sheet Music Copyright

I know that anyone can upload works which are then checked for copyright infringements- are these people specially trained or just extremely clever volunteers? I'm not sure which people you're talking about, but the people who upload files do not go through any vetting process whatsoever (literally...

Re: Are Erwin Schulhoff's works public domain?

... the work was performed first by Schulhoff himself - would that count as a public performance for canadian copyright? Yes, probably, if it was anything much less private than just playing it in front of friends in his house or something. If it was performed at anything resembling an actual conce...

Yes, you're right. That's what comes of going completely from memory after several months of inactivity. Probably shouldn't have attempted to answer in the first place.

Re: Are Erwin Schulhoff's works public domain?

IMSLP voluntarily observes a publication-date-plus-25-years rule for all editions across the board that we don't have permission to upload, so it wouldn't be permitted here at all until 1 Jan. 2017 anyway. Aside from that, it depends on the publication status of each individual piece as well as each...

I know others will recommend the Category Walker The huge problem with the CW here is that basically every page is required to have the original instrumentation tagged, which means that every piece will show up under its original instrumentation, which means that the non-arrangement tags are not a ...

Re: Ach Gott vom himmel sieh darein (Walter, Johann)

... I was following the guideline to tag it for both soloists and chorus where the designation is unclear. What that means is to tag it separately for each combination - not to lump everything into one instrumental tag. I guess the correct version of what you intended here would be 'sop alt ten bas...

Re: Ach Gott vom himmel sieh darein (Walter, Johann)

The latter tag is correct; since it is a tag thus far not encountered, it appears as 'Unknown tag' in the categories. Once somebody gets around to creating the MediaWiki:Genres entry for it then the instrumentation categories will appear as expected. On another note: for the J. Walter piece, you see...

Re: Akira Ifukube (伊福部 昭) Violin Sonata

Composer died in 2006, so unless someone can get explicit permission from the estate it can't be posted here as it's under copyright in virtually the entire world. Sheetmusicplus doesn't appear to have anything of his, and Prestoclassical stocks a handful of things but not this work; however, WorldC...

Re: Rachmaninov concerto accompaniments

Yes, all the files in question are tagged as 2014 for the EU. I guess the Rhapsody was published posthumously but it doesn't make any difference to the EU copyright which is still life+70.
