Here I am trying to find pictures of some of the less well known composers...and while trying to add a picture of Johannes Evangelista Habert, I must have pressed the wrong button(s) and managed to blank the page. Not sure how to undo it. Could one of the Mods help?

Thank you! It always annoys me when D.96 is referred to as the "Guitar Quartet."There IS a "flute quartet" in Schubert's name, for Flute, Viola, Cello, and Guitar.

"Schubert" Flute Quartet - wrong composer?
Is there a Schubertologist in the house? From the latest batch of Sibley scores, a quartet for flute and strings has made its way onto IMSLP, allegedly by Franz Schubert, Op.4. Having had a look at it, I am doubtful that it is by the well-known Franz Schubert (1797-1828) and believe it may be by one...

Re: New! Search by Melody
OK, I gave it a Schubert test...fed in the first and second themes from the Unfinished Symphony, the start of the "Great" C major symphony, and the start of the Arpeggione Sonata...and it did not recognise a single one of them. (and yes, I did try in the original keys and transposed to sta...

Re: Satie - 4 Préludes flasques
I would really like to play Satie's 4 Preludes flasques Anybody with the username "DrunkenFrenchman" has a glittering career ahead of them as a natural born interpreter of Satie's works. There are subtleties and nuances in Satie's work which can undoubtedly only be fully appreciated when ...

Re: Schuberts Quartettsatz
It is printed in the "Revisionsbericht" (Editors' Commentary on the Critical Edition) of the Breitkopf & Hartel complete Schubert edition of 1884-1897, pages 78-82. I am having lots of computer problems at the moment - the computer which is connected to the scanner, and which has all m...

Re: Does Anybody Know this song?
It's spurious - not a genuine Schubert at all. See my note on the talk page of the offending piece.

Re: How to make students love piano?
Hello everybody, ... many of them see playing piano as an annoying thing they have to do to please their parents... Thank you I'm willing to bet that in 95% of cases, the parents do not play any type of musical instrument. (Piano lessons are seen as something you send your child to in order to show...

Schubert: "Arpeggione" Sonata, D.821. Reza Najfar (alto flute); Erich Faltermeier (piano). 8) :D My first thought was "He beat me to it!!! That's what I get for having a day job and not having enough time to practice!!!!" (I have spent the past 4 years, on & off, making my ow...

Re: Finest Melodies
I imagine you like the melodies in Schubert's The Shepheard on the Rock ? :) Yes!! I think that was on the previous week's list of favorites. In fact, my soprano friend and I are looking around for a clarinet player so we can perform it. With about 1000 pieces in the Deutsch catalog, there is...

Re: Finest Melodies
The trio from Schubert's D. 944 is an incredible melody indeed. As is the first song of An die ferne geliebte (and Mondnacht...same melody), but that's mainly in the accompaniment. However, my favorite melody is the second theme of the first movement of Mozart's Coronation Concerto...gorgeous... So...

Re: Favorite Genre(s) and Why
Reminds me of the old quote (can't remember off the top of my head who was responsible for it)..."there's only two things worse than a clarinet, and that is two clarinets." My favorite genres/ sub-genres: 1. Lieder. Not just Schubert, but any art songs. I also like a lot of songs by ...

Re: [BUG] Sibley uploading error
I'm getting exactly the same error. I am unable to upload Sibley files except by saving them to my computer and then uploading manually the same way as non-Sibley files.
I'm getting the same problem on both my computers at home.

Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel, Lieder Op.1
I have just acquired a copy of 6 Lieder Op.1 by Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel. It appears to be an unedited and un-altered facsimile of an 1846 edition by Bote & Bock (plate no. B. et B. 1046). It is reprinted by Bote & Bock in 1985 and carries a copyright notice to that effect on the first page....
