Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
With the WIMA project finally in the rear-view mirror I'm hoping we can build a similar effort around getting up to date with the Sibley project. As of now there are only 1700 files that have yet to be labeled or uploaded and then we will be up to date. As the summer ends it will take more people to...

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
Good news! The first 19,000 files are nearly done! There's about 30-50 files in each of the groups from 12,000-19,000 that need to be uploaded and we can cross off pages 3 and 4 of the link list. We've had some good help identifying the files but now we really just need some people to do actual file...

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
FYI, there's no need to notate sibley links that are books or non-music files. If it isn't a score or a method or Libretto I'd just delete it.

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
I haven't mirrored any links yet. People aren't deleting the links.. Before 2010 or whenever it was that the {{SibleyScan|1802/xxx}} template was created, files were not mirrored with the word "Sibley" in the file name, so they were impossible to track after being uploaded. But that reall...

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
On the 16.000-18.999 list page all files, which are PD in Europe are now uploaded, all collections, books and non-PDs are identified, what's left needs to be uploaded by someone outside Europe You can actually do all those files because you are not actually uploading them from Europe. You are just ...

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
Hey! Go start your own appeal post! Everyone, please, pay no attention to the Carolus behind the curtain...Before we get ahead of ourselves here, I would like to point out that the WIMA project is still under way.

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
As we get closer to the official start of summer if there are posters who find themselves with a little more free time I'd like to beg you to join us on finishing up the Sibley Project to get caught up to the present. We've had a ton of help from a few more people but we'd love more people to help c...

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
Don't bother. I did those for a while but decided it wasn't important because we actually don't care so much about having them labeled as it is important that the files are uploaded. It's just not an effective use of time to re-label them with sibleyscan|1802/xxxx.

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
I suppose you could create a list of all the composer names we have on IMSLP and then have a script go through each sibley link and run it against the entire list for a match. The problem is still the arranger and editor issue when they are not listed in the contributor section. As for the off-topic...

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
I have a script that I have used that walks through every sibley link to check for any non-pd people listed under the "contributor" section. But that only takes care of the people if they are listed under the "contributor" section. For the random people that are mentioned in othe...

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
So we've got a couple more people helping with the uploading but we could really use a few more. The more people we have to help hack away at the link list the faster we can finish this and get caught up to the present at which point there would be more than enough people to easily take care of the ...

Re: Appeal for Help with Sibley Project
I have two questions regarding posting material from Sibley. 1. If I post a PD-US only score to the US server should I remove the link from the Sibley link list or merely note that it has been uploaded to imslp.us? I would delete it. I imagine once the work becomes PD everywhere it is automatically...

Re: Pictures at an exhibition - Mussorgsky (Ravel)
PS. If you are planning on doing a performance of this work? If so, if it leads to making parts from this in Finale or Sibelius or just making your own parts. I would advise against making your own parts from a score. Publishers have a way of finding out about performances and would be highly suspi...

Re: Title / imslp.org main page
I agree that the portal is a bit cumbersome as an arrival point. Especially since the Forums and Journal are second and third fiddles to the actual library. Actually, now that there is a search bar at the top of every page we could probably find a good way to modify the Main Page to remove the redun...
