Re: Submit music to IMSLP

Ooh, we are very much looking forward to the submissions! Do you happen to know any of the pieces (/editions)? There are four ways that I can think of that are the most practical: 1). Is there a local library that would - perhaps - have a scanner? If so, that would be a reasonable approach to scanni...

Re: Opera scores

Hi there. What a fantastic source! Unfortunetly there is no practical way to obtain PDF's of the score. However, like most things, there is an impractical way which involves saving the images and converting them with a PDF editor :-)

IRC Channel

Hi everyone. I just want to announce that IMSLP now has a registered channel (#imslpchat). I think it would be a good idea to actually implement it onto the wiki, but (obviously) I can't do that since the page it locked. I'm wondering if anyone else with sysop rights could do it. Here are the steps:...

Sorting by Librettist

I was thinking that it might be a useful idea to sort works by librettist. I think that there are two main ways this can be approached, which is why I've brought it up for discussion. My preference would be to create a template for the librettist. The advantage to that would be that normal people co...

Re: How to undo a faulty redirection?

Hi there. The ability to change the name of a piece comes with time (once the captcha is gone). Once the captcha is gone, there will be a tab on the top that says "move". This is the proper way to change the title of a piece. The confusion of your case came because of the composer's notati...

Re: Problem getting email address confirmed.

Is it possible that you may have typed the wrong email address for confirmation? That would explain why IMSLP says that it did send the email, but you didn't receive it.

Hi there. It seems that it does not happen to me. It may be a possible problem with your PDF reader. Which one do you use?

Re: How to Edit Work's Title On Composer's Page

It seems as though an administrator reverted the edit, which is why it did not hold. The piece seems to have been, in fact, written for two pianos. Thanks for the concern! It's always helpful to have people checking over page titles to make sure they are correct

Keys

Hi everyone. This may be a terrible idea, but do you think it might be useful to have a category walker specifically for keys? I was considering that it may be useful to able to see all the pieces we have in our collection from the perspective of key signature. Especially for the most obscure keys. ...

Re: - Concern -

Thanks for the Chopin work! Prior to Davydov's creation of the tagging system, we had genres. If those didn't always work, then you could do a search by whatever general information you chose. This was one of the causes of the woefully inadequate lists, another, I suppose, being that the genre syst...

Re: - Concern -

• I’m not enamoured of the Chicago Manual of Style either, but in particular, my argument against it is restricted to the specific types of “style” which seem to me to be fundamentally unmusical, or put in place without any consideration of music as the principal application here. Having a house st...

- Concern -

I'm rather startled by the intense debates over everything needing to be standardized. Especially trying to convert our practices with those of major libraries. We are even converting half of our practicing to meshing with the Chicago manual of Style (which I abhor, and frankly think isn't worth a r...

Re: Main Page

Tables generally tend to fail . So long as you didn't put food on it  1). The statistics should be put on another page. 2). We may want to change "Free Public Domain Music Library" to "Free Music Library", since a lot our scores now are released under creative commons ...

Re: An unusual question

On IMSLP we don't publish artwork. It's a music library. By "scores are not the only thing we contribute" it meant that recordings are also permissible. There other websites for your kind of work I'm sure.

Cheers,
