Re: Music-Aware Image Correction Software

I use ScanTailor (http://scantailor.sourceforge.net/) and, with a few tweaks, it works very well. It hasn't been updated in a while, so I don't know if they're still developing it or not.

Re: RAVEL SCHEHEREZADE (USA COPYRIGHT)

It's still protected everywhere except the USA due to the poet (died 1967).

Thanks, it has been corrected. By the way, you, as a registered user on the wiki, have the ability to make such edits yourself if you wish. Otherwise, posting a topic in the Work Page Issues sub-forum would be the best place.

Re: MLA Conference, Atlanta, USA Feb 26-Mar 2

I won't be in attendance for any of the day sessions, but if we all (whomever else might be attending) want to pick an evening maybe we can get together for a libation. Any of those days work for me.

Re: DIAMM and IMSLP

Firstly, I understand the argument here and agree this is a tricky situation from, like you said, a purely morality standpoint. The issue here is, indeed, not one of law but of use etiquette. I think the problem I have with the situation is that the libraries who are granting access to these rare ma...

Re: Milhaud, Chamber symphony No.6, Op.79 (1922)

The sixth chamber symphony was published in 1929, therefore copyright worldwide and cannot be uploaded here. If you're looking to buy, it was published by Universal Edition, edition no. 9629.

Re: Strauss Sonatine No. 1 TrV 288 Boosey and Hawkes edition

Right, forgot about that condition in Canada. In that case, the score is then likely public domain because the first performance of the piece came on 18 June 1944 at a concert of the Dresden Musicians Union conducted by Karl Elmendorff. (Source: CD program notes written by Stephan Kohler to "Ri...

Because that piece was first published in 1952, more than 50 years ago. For more information on what is and isn't public domain, have a look at this article: http://imslp.org/wiki/Public_domain

Re: Strauss Sonatine No. 1 TrV 288 Boosey and Hawkes edition

If you mean the wind serenade in E-flat, then that's because it was first issued in 1882 and so has been public domain for quite some time in the US (it became public domain in Canada only in 2000).

Re: Strauss Sonatine No. 1 TrV 288 Boosey and Hawkes edition

This is the chamber piece better know as "From an invalid's workshop" that was written in 1943. It's a marvelous work for winds. I think it was only first published in 1964, which means it wouldn't be public domain in Canada until January first of 2015, and even then it almost certainly me...

Yes, as long as you don't have a later edition with the assistance of another person (not even sure if another edition exists).
