Re: Upcoming changes
The CC licensed scores don't have the wait. So....one COULD say people are only paying for the PD scores (which of course is completely legal and ethical). Granted the money is more going to the backend of things and if the site 'only' had the CC content it'd still cost money, but do it at it that w...

Re: Upcoming changes
So having seen the 15 second thing in action, I really have to agree with previous points. Having it on every single upload makes it look like the shady file share sites, some of which are complete scams and even ones that aren't are still usually pretty bad. That said, I can see benefit to it -- a ...

Re: Rossini 6 Sonatas a Quattro
Believe me, as someone who did a research paper about it, there was no chamber music with a bass clarinet part that was published at that time.

Re: Jacques Offenbach. cellist
1996 is ''recently''? The only real hope for the concerti would be copies of the manuscript, they were never published (or at least not any time where they'd be PD). Also the whole issue with the those two pieces is confusing -- one of the recordings claims that the Concerto-Rondo is the third movem...

Re: Radetsky March
Right, Berlioz simply made an arrangement of existing music (as did Liszt quite a few times, as mentioned).

Well you're remembering wrong. Srauss's march is this: http://imslp.org/wiki/File:TN-Strauss,_ ... 10,996.jpg
Very different music.

Re: Strauss Jr., Hoch Oesterreich
Right. All the ones called operetta have no opus number, only the dances arranged from them do (but NOT the few excerpts, such as the Entry March from The Gypsy Baron) The only real confusing one is Ritter Pasman, which is a grand opera. I've seen the opera credited as 441, all of the excepts collec...

Uh....
That looks like the /Rákóczi/ March https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%A1k%C3%B3czi_March
Strauss Sr. AFAIK didn't have anything to do with it, but both Berlioz and Liszt (the later quite a number of times) made their own versions.

Re: Strauss Jr., Hoch Oesterreich
No, Hail Austria is from the operetta Cagliostro in Vienna. None of Strauss's operettas have opus numbers, but every one of them has concert music rearranged from motives (as you said) of which Op. 371 is but one. All of opera 369–374 (this includes the pretty well known At the Hunt, Op. 372) are fr...

Re: Are any piano scores listed by difficulty?
Lists of facts are always legal, though sometimes the exact method of listing could be considered 'creative'.
I could, though, see categories like "Grade 2 in XXXX" or something? Though granted it'd likely mean popular pieces would get way too many, but it's a thought.

Re: Are any piano scores listed by difficulty?
You’re overthinking this. Look at yelp, trip advisor, and amazon. Users give a star rating and include their reasoning. Other users read these ratings for guidance on reaching their own decision. There’s no “correct” rating because of course they’re subjective. And the trolls will be quickly outed ...

Re: Are any piano scores listed by difficulty?
You miss a bit of the point of the fact this a wiki though. People will be trolls. "LOL, I'll rate this really hard piece a 1 hahah" will happen. And staff would have to clean it up.
