Franz Schreker's Die Gezeichneten

I heard that the Los Angeles Opera had included this opera in their season. If anyone has this score, could they please upload it? Thanks.

Die drei Pintos

If anyone has this work (left unfinished by Weber, completed by Mahler), could they upload it? I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

Schoenberg's Moses und Aron, as found on this site:

Does anyone know which recording this is? It is an excellent version and I would love to know.

Opinions about Schoenberg

I would like to ask everyone their opinions about Arnold Schoenberg. Do you like his music? Do you absolutely hate it? He is personally one of my favorite composers. I enjoy his music because it is highly original, it is extremelly progressive, and it just sounds awesome, for lack of a better word.

Re: What Is Everybody's Problem with Barber?

In response to the first part of your post, I would agree that Barber is a "modern" composer. The reason I say this is that compared to Richard Strauss and Hans Pfitzner, he is not traditional in any way. As for the second part, I would have to say that Barber's style is so unique, that yo...

Re: Recital Piece Reccomendations, please

I had merely suggested Pictures by Mussorgsky becuase it is very well known. If you are interested in Russian composers, I suggest Borodin's Petit Suite, a walz by Glazunov, or one of the many Tales by Medtner. If you want to do a duet, one of my favorite pieces for 2 pianos is Arensky's first Suite...

Re: Recital Piece Reccomendations, please

I always think it is good to get a wide range of composers from many different periods. Bach is always a good choice. Try maybe some Inventions or Sinfonias, or the more difficult preludes and fugues from the Well Tempered Clavier books. If you're up to doing a whole sonata, Mozart's and Haydn's are...

Shostakovich's Seventh Symphony Question

Having listened to this symphony many times, interepreted by many conductors, I always question some analyses given by musicologists, a topic discussed briefly on another post. Almost all my questions turn up in the first movement, about the time the snare drums tap out the distinctive ostinato. The...

You make a good point. My dislike of Puccini probably comes more from the content of the operas themselves, i.e. romance plots. Don't get me wrong, I could listen to Eugene Onegin, der Rosenkavalier, even Turandot over and over again because of the music, but not pay attention to the plots. I much p...

Although Puccini may have some of the most lyrical music (opening of Suor Angelica is perfect example), he composed so far behind his time that I always feel like there is no seriousness in his music. I will not deny his masterful orchestration skills, but I tend to prefer composers who expanded on ...

I can see that some of the Mendelssohn scores are being posted. Thanks! :D

May I request his Meeresstille und glückliche Fahrt (Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage), Op. 27? It's one of my favorites of his.

Does anyone know of any websites that contain original, autographed manuscripts of Mahler or Schoenberg that can be viewed on the internet?
