Re: Pini di Roma renewal status

Perhaps a judicious email in their direction enquiring as to when it will be available from them might result in an answer, though I suppose you're right, the chances of large reprint houses finding the appropriate notice are much higher than the chances of one man, no matter how dedicated :|

Pini di Roma renewal status

IM confused as to why this work has been re-TB'd, was a legitimate copyright renewal found after all?

Re: The End of "Genres"

Ya, i think I understand the intention now, but do we know if searching in instrumentation fields will be possible, it seems like it should, we would just need to have a regex kind of search means, but I dont know if this is possible with the current system?

Anyway, </minor thread derailment>

Re: The End of "Genres"

I think the other example you gave was Brahms' Sonatas for Clarinet or Viola and Piano. As for any other examples, i can think of quite a few that update instrumentation while providing the original, like Biber's Scordatura sonatas, in a similar vein works featuring lesser played instruments in an o...

Re: How about??

Due to American copyright law's somewhat hazy idea of foreign sovreignty they will be under the [TB] category if what you say is true, this is a very sad state of affairs, but until American lawyers learn that Sweden is not a state of the US we will be forced to abide by their copyright laws

Re: The End of "Genres"

I would like to pre-empt the request and sign up as part of the project team, it seems like a worthy and interesting endeavour and perhaps Ill discover some new music I never considered before :)

Re: The End of "Genres"

The only problem I see with this solution is the problem of standardising tags, so that they can be parsed for sorting. Other than that, i think it covers just about anything, unless people want to start arguing over whether X's Requiem is really for a funeral etc. Overall, heartily support this, ob...

Re: Carmen Orchestral Parts

My word, I take your point about amateur typesets generally being devoid of good error checking, but seriously, take a look at the parts for H.M.S. pinafore by W.S. Gilbert, there are missing rehearsal marks on the parts, wrong dynamics, incorrect time signatures, missing key signature changes, hit-...

Re: Eb clarinet

Indeed, mahler is about the only composer i can readily think of who thought it was a good idea  I have a feeling Bruckner did as well in a symphony or two, but thats just a vague memory from updating the instrumentation lists. I agree about the ravel, its what made me buy my Eb, a bargain ...

Re: Eb clarinet

Ehe, in my case i double Oboe/Eb - weird i know, so i get to sit between flutes and clarinets in my band, which is irritating because im always assumed to be the one out of tune. Yes yes i know neither are renound for stable tuning, but honest, the light was green :) . As for D/Eb it seems perverse ...

Eb clarinet

Anyone else around here who subjects themselves and others regularly to this torture  Particularly, does anyone play it for an Orchestra, i play it for a concert band which is great, but im thinking Shost 6 or Ravels Daphins and Chloe * Is in awe of those who can play the Danse Generale at ...

Re: Favorite Conductor(s)

Otto Klemperer turned me off Mahler for years, my first foray therein was the Second, and i just found his tempo lackluster, there was no tension at the opening, and in general he turned Mahler into lift music for me. It was not until I heard Bernard Haitink's interpretation that i actually 'got' th...

Re: Schoenberg Verklaerte Nacht (version for string orchestra)

I know that some of the manuscript can be found at http://www.schoenberg.at if you fancy extracting the parts yourself, unless someone else around here has the parts, which I do not. Good luck though, i too would be interested in seeing them here.
