Re: [FEAT] Composer Timeline

Edward, while you’ve got your thinking cap on as regards date- or year-related categories, there was also a suggestion here which touches on using our existing composer/person pages to automatically create birth year/death year categories, which would assist the sorts of searches or filtering that V...

Re: 1/1/2xxx

True, some of it can be automated.

It’s for the stuff that can’t be automated (because it’s fiddly and ad hoc ) that this is necessary.

Re: 1/1/2xxx

Perhaps it’s well past time — especially since it could so easily be automated from the {{fte:person}} template — that for any person born after 1840 (174 years before the present), the template adds categories based on the fields |Born Year =xxxx |Died Year=yyyy which are of the form [[Category:xxx...

Re: Visited links

I’d like to report this as an actual bug and disability issue. The default link colours are in fact disagreeably close to the basic text colour so that for people with any sight issues they do not readily stand out as hyperlinks. And it shouldn’t be necessary for someone to have to create an account...

Re: Mahler: Symphony No.10

Necromancing this old thread, as we now have a work page with downloadables: Symphony No.10 Huzzah! Thanks very much to cypressdome for obtaining these from the BSB and ÖNB. I was a little worried the page would disappear without anything there! I’m a little bit upset about the ‘(unfinished)’ in the...

Re: Lost works you would most like to hear or find the score

I second Perlnerd’s suggestion of any of Monteverdi’s Venetian operas and stage works, and would have a few special individual lost items that would be nice to have: • Lassus’ lost 40-part motet, written and performed during one of Striggio’s visits to München • Berlioz’s Francs-juges opera, before ...

Re: Category sort for keys?

I designed a template to categorise the commonly accepted major and minor keys - up to seven sharps and flats. So the {{Key|<designation>}} template takes care of formatting and categorising; if you only want formatting use {{K|<designation>}}. Format: major uses capitals, minor uses lower case; b i...

Re: Lincolnshire Posy

Purgatory seems a more apt word, there being no criminal act by the composer to result in the ban.

Re: Cheap tablet for viewing sheet music...

What sort of music are you intending to read from it? Are you possibly going to be performing music from it? (If the latter, then larger screen real-estate is preferable for clarity.)

Cheers, Philip

Straight off a screen or using a data projector? Trust me, you most certainly can. Even for small ensemble music.
