hahaha Sorry! IMO, Chailly (with...I forgot), Abbado (with LSO), Bernstein (both NY Phil and Israel Phil), Ozawa (with Boston, I think), Dutoit (with Montreal), Boulez (DVD version with LSO is perhaps better), MTT with SFO...those are the best as far as I've heard. I'm sure there are better ones, bu...

For me, once I got used to it, I started liking it very much...more each time I listened to it!

the Boulez is indeed a very good one, but not the best, IMO.

.......I think the source is actually Stravinsky's own handwritten full score (which Monteux used at the premiere) because I once saw a sample of the score and I compared it to the Dover of the same two pages...and guess what? It was nearly identical! Of course, I may be wrong or I may have co...

Unknown to me too! Though it is not the same reprint, it has the same layout (the same measures on each page). Therefore, I believe that your statement is very true and I also believe that their source was indeed the main Muzika score (Dover/Kalmus reprint). I was just looking at the two scores (the...

They must've been, considering the fact that the IMSLP file itself was hosted on the US server (imslp.ca) and thus they are probably public domain in the US but not in Canada. This also makes sense when one thinks about the fact that Dover sells a reprint of a public domain version (1913 version, re...

It's here!

This is the site where IMSLP got the score from (albeit it is in separate parts) http://nlib.org.ua/parts/orchestra1.html

??UE??

The owner of IMSLP can do a lot to bring back IMSLP. Universal Edition Vienna has already said turn on the servers. This is a big mis-understanding. Just turn on the servers and maybe put a restriction on the material which Universal Edition Vienna is complaining about on the Europeans and enjoy IM...

The news spreads

Has anyone noticed how widespread the news of IMSLP's controversial shutdown has become? See these links (there are more, these are some of interest, some are discussions on the legality of this whole thing): http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20071022-european-copyright-law-used-to-threaten-canad...

Feldmahler, you are not to blame for the closure of the site, though it is a truly, truly sad day. My heart sank when I read your statement. I really feel horrible that it had to come to this and wish there was something I could do.

I haven't been on IMSLP for some time and when I checked IMSLP recently, I found myself looking at plain text instead of the site that always cheers me up. I have been telling friends about IMSLP and how great it is, IMHO, it is the best music site I have ever set my eyes upon, and I am very very sa...

That would explain Pulcinella  But, later on, Stravinsky did get the copyright for the Rite, albeit not for the original 1913 edition. He revised it in 1947 and got it published by Boosey & Hawkes and thus that got the copyright for the most recent version of the Rite. As for Fantasia, curs...
