New Period

I was thinking it would be very useful if we could have a new time period, namely "Living Composers" - which will have the oldest composer's birth date as a starting date, and it would extend to today. It would be very interesting to be able to browse through scores of living composers, se...

Re: Manuscript vs Typeset vs New Composition

That is annoying - have you contacted them and stuff? Ironically, I googled your name and "score music", and a DVD came up which includes the following line along its contents: Neff, Lyle K. - 3 Memories for Bassoon and Piano - full score and part include title pg n cc notice So they've li...

Re: Manuscript vs Typeset vs New Composition

Sounds good. Besides, it's always better to be on the safe side with these things, rather than find out that lots of people have had their scores sold on ebay because they forgot to change the default, or any other reason. In terms of actual coding, is it something that requires special privilages/a...

Re: Manuscript vs Typeset vs New Composition

What about a "New Composition: [ ]" checkbox, and the File/Image Type options remaining the same? (without "New Composition") This way, the work could be tagged as a New composition (whatever that implies - i.e. different copyright status tags, different categories etc) but peopl...

Manuscript vs Typeset vs New Composition

I was uploading some pieces of mine earlier, and I had trouble with the "File/Image type" field. My complaint was that, some of my music is handwritten, but I can't select "Manuscript" because it needs to be a public domain file, and mine aren't (they are released under a CC by-s...

Automated Thumb/Preview files

I had posted this under "Other", but I think it belongs here more. And I couldn't find a "Move post" button, so I deleted the other one and started this one: I was just wondering.. is there no way we can set up a script to automatically take the first page of a score, resize it a...

Graphic Scores

I am about to upload quite a few of my scores on the website, and I was thinking that it would be great if we could add another option under "File/Image Type" in the file submission process. Many contemporary composers work/have worked with open scores, graphic scores, mobile forms, all so...

Re: Untapped sources for orchestral scores/parts of operas

I live in London, and thus have easy access to the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. However, I looked on their website and did a short google search, which didn't reveal any (public) libraries. Do you know of any way to gain access to such libraries? Would I be able to access the libraries if I s...

Maps on nationality pages

Yes or no? http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Greek_composers Maybe the particular map is too big and the country looks too small - possible fixes: enlarge the size of the thumbnail, or use different maps. However, using the wikipedia maps has the advantage of a) the images being definitely within publi...

Uploading Folk Music

I found a nice collection of English Folk songs by Olive Dame Campbell (d.1954) and Cecil Sharp (d.1924), which consists of about 390 pages and was published in 1917. Should we make an effort to have a better organised Folk Music section on IMSLP? At the moment, there are some diverse titles in the ...

Copyright on the scanner/scan?

I know there's been a lot already on SMA, but here's a nice little extract from their site: Re-scanning and Distribuiting printed copies of Sheet Music Archive When the Sheet Music Archive scans sheet music, it creates not only new (and copyrighted) computer files, but also alters the graphic inform...

Re: Over 2500 Composers Represented on PML

Almost twice more downloads per day than a year ago.. :X And you can see how we had some 1,600 downloads just the day IMSLP re-opened.. That's (a tiny bit more than) about one download a minute! (*was* - now it's about 10 downloads every 9 seconds)

Re: Giuliani, Op.48

Fair enough. I won't post it then until someone else has more information (I can't find anything else on it myself). Thanks :)

BTW, are you using a website to check or are you just using your experience to tell from typesets/titles/whatever?

Giuliani, Op.48

Here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/15765087/Maur ... 48-24-Etud

Might be a tough one - no plate numbers (as far as I can tell), and no title page. (alternatively, there's this file: http://www.scribd.com/doc/15765093/Maur ... 48-24-Etud )
