Re: Work information template: Instrumentation
Ok, so offstage instruments would go between soloists and strings, that way it allows for offstage percussion to come after normal percussion, meaning we have Woodwind
Brass
Percussion
Vocal
Offstage Instruments
Keyboards and Strings
One last question, would we count g...

Berlioz Parts
Im not sure if this has been mentioned before, but http://www.hberlioz.com possesses complete copies of the typeset scores of berlioz's orchestral works, even though he asserts copyright over these under UK law, I suppose, given accreditation as typesetter he might be persuaded to release the typese...

Re: Instrument keys on work pages
Ive been adding the predominant key, because in some works, like Carmen for example, in the first four numbers alone, the four horns go through about 6 crook changes, and thats prohibitive to put on the work page. Suppose a piece used Horn in F, then in G, just horn in F would be used, since i assum...

Re: Work information template: Instrumentation
Ok, having just gone over mahlers symphonies in this way, i would say use roman numerals for part numbers, eg 4 Flutes (IV. Doubling Piccolo II.), it just helps to make it clear at a glance, when theres lots of information there. Also with respect to percussion and other offstage instruments in larg...

Work information template: Instrumentation
At the present there are no(?) guidelines on this field's use, ive seen standard shorthand ie (2d1 2d1 2 2, 4 2 3 1, strings) and ive seen full naming ie (2 flutes (1st doubling piccolo)) etc etc. Whilst i understand that a system for searching works on instrumentation is going to be difficult and d...

Instrument keys on work pages
Would it be possible to get some clarification on the need for keying on parts, in particular on Clarinets, Horns and Trumpet. In the case of clarinets, a full key listing is needed, but in the case of Horns, is a full list necessary, since most players will transpose stubbornly anyway. Trumpets I h...

Re: reger, "espressive e marcato"
My guess is that the slur is probably but a phrase mark, as such, the passage is simply suggested as a phrase, then within that the notes expressive but marked could be played legato, but tongued to give a slight detachment?

Re: motzart clarinet concerto.
I second this request, the solo clarnet part exists approximately nowhere that i can find online, and it is indeed somewhat inconvenient reading off the full score

Re: A dynamic database for advanced music-browsing
Basically, if one needs a search for parts or instrumentation, then when one uploads a part one tags it with Clarinet 1 or Solo Piano, such that one can search that way. However for incomplete parts some form of shorthand must be used, which is easy in some ways and very difficult in others, maybe s...

Re: A dynamic database for advanced music-browsing
Seconded, i would very much like to see this idea, i notice some pieces have the standard instrumentation labelled on them (Hebrides overture) a search based on that would be trivial to implement, i dont know whether the wiki software has that functionality though. On a related note, what logic is b...

Re: sheetmusicarchive.net
As far as i can telll, most of googles ranking is based upon a system weighing incoming links against outgoing links, producing a value similar to SUM OF INCOMING LINKS PAGERANK/OUTCOING LINKS, as such, effectively changing your page position is quite difficult, especially since wikipedia pages have...

Re: Project Stravinsky: Complete pre-1923 works now available
The problem with this is we then end up with a list of composers available in one place that aren't in another, at which point the whole exercise becomes a little comical, i mean i would love to see Ravel's output available for download (That which is PD in the EU), as well as all the other musician...

Bergson: Luisa de Montfort
I recently picked up a copy of this piece from the clarinet institute's website, and it is missing the oboe part, does anybody happen to possess this part, since the owner of the site does not believe another copy exists, or at least he cant find it, and i wish to perofrm this piece.
