Re: Saint Saens Cello Concerto
Your Cello Concerto question is the topic for another form. As for your post-script, the piece that started my love for classical music was actually Schoenberg's opera Moses und Aron . Our music teacher played some excerpts for us one day in his class, and I fell in love with the sound world in whic...

Chopin is a very good composer. The polonaises are my favorites. but it's hard to beat a Victor Borge Minute Waltz.

Re: Happy 100th Birthday, Samuel Barber!
Barber is great. Vanessa is my favorite of his, but also like Knoxville: Summer of 1915, and his Excursions for Piano and Summer Music Quintet is great as well.
p.s. Barber's home is 5 minutes from where I live. Pretty cool, huh?

Daphnis, will Cunning Little Vixen be taken out of [TB] status, or will it remain that way?

Gerald Finzi - Eclogue for Piano and String Orchestra. I don't care much for Finzi's songs, but this work of his is great. Him, Frank Bridge, and Britten are my favorite English composers.

Larsson: The Winter's Tale - Epilogue. I don't think he is a particularly good composer, but this movement is phenomenal. It ends too soon, I think. I'm always longing for more at the end.

Perhaps maybe Mendelssohn's Variations Serieuses, or the easier Rondo Capriccioso?

Re: Finest Melodies
Started working on Saint-Saens 1st Piano Concerto, in D Major. The first movement's main theme is so simple, yet so powerful, it really pushes the piece forward.

Mis-placed Wagner file
I noticed the music "Song of the Rheinmaidens", listed as being in the fourth scene of Rheingold is actually from Act 3 of Götterdämmerung. If someone could please move the file to the appropriate location, that would avoid any confusion. Thanks.

Re: What is your favorite aria for a coloratura?
Would Gliere's "Concerto for Colaratura in F Minor" count? I know it's a stretch, but it is a nice piece of music.
