For me I like lilypond because of the monetary cost and because I get so frustrated with the user interfaces of most other programs. With lilypond I only have to be good at using a text editor. In my mind this is a strength. It hides most of the complexity until I need it. True you need to compile t...

Or maybe a better analogy would be...asking a mother how beautiful her baby is, on a scale of 1-10. True. I just added that because there was already an under-used rating system in place. It would be nice to get some value out of it. Perhaps there are a couple objective measures of scan quality tha...

What I also wondered during the last two years is why there were, in contrast to the immense popularity of the website, so few people motivated to make their submissions conform to our guidelines, and why there were so few people motivated to make real valuable contributions, instead of dumping the...

What is your native language? The slow response is probably because many people here are getting tired of pointing people to read the letter on imslp.org. It explains everything. I understand that language may be an issue but automated translators like babelfish should help to get the gist. In any c...

No thanks?!? If a composer who 'died in 1960' wrote beautiful music for us to enjoy pre-1923, shouldn't we still be eager to send a bit of our monies toward his/her family who undoubtedly still own the pub. rights to his/her compositions? God knows being a composer for a living isn't very profitabl...

IMSLP non è chiuso per sempre. Dobbiamo aspettare per ora mentre feldmahler e altri decidono cosa fare. Appena loro sanno ci faranno sapere. Non credo che c'è molto altro che possiamo fare in questo momento. [Side note: I've noticed more and more mixed language comments since IMSLP has been shutdown...

And IMSLP contributors: we should maybe follow a new goal to produce (legal) GNU-licence editions of ALL (every single!) out-of-copyright music that has been published by Universal Edition so that they shouldn't make any cent any more from this music. I would be happy to provide webspace to share t...

Someone has already dugg it:

It's going to need quite a few diggs to get to the front page though.

There was never a site I was happier to have contributed to. (I've been a slow but steady contributor I think.) I don't think IMSLP failed at all. It obviously got the attention of some people who didn't like it. What better confirmation of its success than that! Really, music publishers need to off...

1) Yes the english horn is in F. 2) B means Bb in german. H is B-natural. Just tradition that it's used here I guess. 3) Yes the horns are in F. Not to many years before this, natural horns were used and there was never a need for a key signature. Lots of composers around the turn of the century sti...
