IMSLP 24397, Kirchner Novelleten, op.59

The information page on this, under "information", lists "violin, cello, piano and orchestra". Having downloaded the file, there is no evidence of any orchestral accompaniment. It is a standard piano trio. Could a moderator please verify this and change the instrumentation? Thanks.

Berens, Piano Trio op. 95 no. 1

The piano part to Berens' Piano Trio op. 95 no. 1 has two page 8s, but no page 7. Any chance someone has a copy and could scan in a page 7? Thanks.

Re: Johann Schobert's fortepiano music

The 1958 edition lists Hans Moser as an editor. He died in 1967. If I understand the copyright law correctly, this would only be public domain if it was an urtext, in other words, Moser's contribution didn't add anything original. If it did, it is protected till 1 Jan 2018? Do I have this right?

Re: Johann Schobert's fortepiano music

Our library's Denkmaler is listed on the computer as being a 1958 edition. I will have to physically go look at it to see if it is a reprint of an earlier edition. I will try to get to that in the next week.

Re: Johann Schobert's fortepiano music

My university library has some Schobert in the Denkmaler series. Can anybody shed some light on the copyright status of this work? The other issue is that I am seriously trying to learn how to do scanning and PDF files -- I have very little time, and already have a stack of things I would love to pu...

copyright renewal

This question is more for my general education than for any specific piece.

From time to time I see references to copyright having been renewed, so I would like to learn under what circumstances a company can renew copyright?

Re: Nouvel Observateur article

It's not a fight -- it's a simple statement of fact -- they get most of their material from IMSLP, and charge for it when it's available free elsewhere. If stated simply and without emotion, there's nothing to fight about. They can't deny it.

Re: Nouvel Observateur article

I think the SMA should be mentioned, because it shows that their logic (and research) is quite questionable.

Re: VSM

I can't find how to get to Carolus' talk (maybe it's too early in the morning). Can someone either give details of how this would work, or tell me how to get to the discussion? I am, like Carmar, a bit suspicious that it benefits them more than IMSLP.

johann friedrich fasch

How about Johann Friedrich Fasch? He is a seriously under-played but good composer of concerti, chamber music, etc.

Re: Sergei Rachmaninoff

Brutus, I am not a moderator or in any way involved in the admin at IMSLP, but I have to say the tone of this discussion bothers me a great deal. Your request came across as aggressive, and so do your replies. Wrong though it may be, companies with lots of money have bullied little guys for many man...

Re: MERLOT Award Ideas

I have a friend who regularly does historical research of old documents (not the music field) and she has gotten very adept at using a digital camera set on macro. She doesn't use flash, which has the has the advantage of not contributing to further deterioration of old paper/ink. I don't know if so...

Re: login and this new forum system

I only see 2 boxes for ticking -- one is for logging on automatically on each visit, and the other is for hiding the "logged in" status for this session. I don't see one for "Keep me logged in". Where is that one?

Thanks,
