I just discovered something worse. I tried to upload a few files, and got "file empty" errors at first, but apparently that was also a problem with the host, since I don't get them now (uploading the same files). So if you ever get a "file empty" error, try to upload again :/

Ah ha! I think I know what you mean... someone else has e-mailed me about similar matters I believe :) If you want you can e-mail me the file and I can play around with it (imslp@imslp.org). The original idea (and also my reply to the other guy who e-mailed me) is that I'll write a program to do tha...

Well, as long as you are able to view the file, the encryption should be removable. You can, for example, create another PDF file with the same contents in it... though I admit I don't know how to do that in Windows; in Linux it is much easier ( pdfimages to extract images, convert to convert them t...

Yes, yesterday was quite bad. I did submit a ticket, but as usual, it did nothing. The 400 error is probably PHP throwing a tantrum (downloading normal files are fine).

Guests now need to register to post

Due to vandalism, I have changed the forum permissions, and all guests would have to be logged in to post. Though I don't think that'll be much of a problem, seeing how many people use this forum in the first place ;)

Indeed seniority matters... so it should be no surprise that as of yet IMSLP is not that widely known. But hey, IMSLP has made great progress in the last 8 months or so :) Plus, we even have our own wikipedia stub now, and I wasn't the one who created it! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_M...

Nice! I'm very happy that IMSLP was useful to your orchestra! About the parts, were they digitally edited (i.e. edited by computer)? If they are, you can send me an image of one page of it to imslp@imslp.org , and I can check it out :) If they are not digitally edited, it'd probably be a good idea t...

My thinking is that if I start a page for a composer whose works are copyrighted, to add a note giving an approximate date when they " should " enter the public domain. That would actually be a nice idea :) Maybe I'll try something to that effect when I get some free time. I am still agon...

Right after that post I was thinking about how to make people not submit non-public domain composers even with no work page, and I hit upon the idea of putting the warning on the Add Composer special page itself (which I did)... and so with this I hope it becomes a non-issue.

Actually, what you brought up has a funny history behind it. A few weeks ago I decided that empty composer categories would only make IMSLP seem like it's full of holes, and disappoint expectant IMSLP users (I can just imagine the disappointment after someone clicks on the Shostakovich category). Bu...

Slow website or loading errors

Well... the current host I'm on is horrible in many ways, not the least being the almost complete lack of technical support (which is supposed to be "24/7", whatever that means to them). Also, apparently the MySQL server refuses connections when it's overloaded (which happens quite often),...

Large milestone: 2000 submits!

I just wanted to celebrate the submission of more than 2000 entries into IMSLP. Even though a very small portion of these entries had to be removed due to copyright problems, this accomplishment still isn't small ;) I wanted to take this chance to thank all IMSLP contributors for the great work you ...

Hehe... and just in case you're wondering I did indeed manage to manually add "sheet music" and a few other keywords. Should be great :)

Well... there's a piano reduction by Liszt on IMSLP. Otherwise we don't know where to obtain it; if we did it would be on IMSLP already.
