I can see how that could be a problem. Not wanting to be my usual rash self, is there any agreement?

Re: Tchaikovsky's romances for voice nowhere to bé found

Where is the claim from that transposition was regarded as unstylistic? Songs in the Romantic era were almost always released in at least two keys simultaneously (at least in the US...), each of them for a pair of voice parts each. So far from being unstylistic, in the late 19th century to prepare s...

Re: Major items dropped from PD-US server, I see

Your phrasing is somewhat ambiguous. Are you yourself doing this, or are you describing the behaviour of others, for some reason still to be revealed in a later episode of the season? ;^)

Re: Ludwig Spohr Piano Quintet No. 2, Op. 130

Why do you say the correct key is D major? The first movement is in D minor. Having nothing to guide you but listening to the work, how would you be able to tell that it was in D major and not D minor? Nothing about it, afaik, harmonically, distinguishes the key sequence from several Haydn D minor s...

Re: JB Foerster Violin Concerto No. 2

or, he said several years later, wait until 2026. -If- one had the 1930-published score (does anyone have it to upload or know where to find one? I have a couple of scores scanned waiting on Jan.1 2024 to upload as they'll be PD-US then- assuming the rule is 96 years to the year , not 96 years to th...

"your" - the IMSLP score/parts? Maybe this would be better placed in the IMSLP- other forum rather than this more general one. Also, thanks :)

Re: Tchaikovsky's romances for voice nowhere to bé found

And if you mean that you haven't found scores of any of them on IMSLP- it's a little unclear to me what you mean in the OP - there are many under "Collections" (e.g. "None But the Lonely Heart", his Op.6 No.6, can also be found with a German text in the collection "Song Clas...

Inspired by a question in the IMSLP "Other" forum, but

much more general... if a composer today were to write a set of variations on a theme by a (often living) contemporary as 18th century composers used to do every other hour, almost never asking for specific permission in the latter case, would it now be probably a violation of copyright law in most ...

"Hi, I'm Ludwig!"

So long as "Ludwig!" is going to be helpful, shouldn't its information be helpful instead of outdated (e.g. the "written before 1923" stuff has always been not quite right, and is -now- wholly wrong - "only written before 1923" is just inaccurate and would only have app...

Login only lasting one day?

I know that the login screen says nothing about the signin persisting a full 365 days (only that it won't last more than that), but I find I have to enter my name and password to IMSLP (and imslpforums, I think, though not all other sites) on an (almost?) daily basis now. Fairly sure it's not my coo...

Re: Arrangements/Orchestrations by IMSLP contributors.

"Then among the self-published ones..." I think one big problem is more the sheer prolificity of arrangers who never take into consideration the fact that they are writing for very specific and characteristic instruments, not mere instrumental ranges (if they even remember those), etc., an...

Re: Eduardo López-Chavarri

Several of his works are copyright in the mid-1910s, so if you can find copies those works would be in the public domain in the US and Canada. (So for instance Saint Louis Public Library has a copy of his Acuarelas valencianas; Aquarelles from Valencia; para orquesta de cuerda , and Brigham Young Un...
