Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

Dvorak's In Nature's Realm, Op. 91 played by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Karel Arcel. My favorite overture out of the Nature, Love and Life triology that includes Carnival Overture, Op. 92 and Othello, Op. 93.

Re: Best Endings

Copland's Billy the Kid has a very emotional and climatic ending. I love the harp glissandos that elaborate the orchestral texture and push the music foward.

Re: Dvorak- Clarinet Quintet in B-flat minor (lost)

That's too bad that he destroyed it. I would have loved to play some chamber music written for my instrument by Dvorak.

Dvorak- Clarinet Quintet in B-flat minor (lost)

Is it really true that Dvorak wrote a chamber work for the clarinet? I stumble upon the title while I was browsing a list of his works on Wikipedia. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

Re: Favorite Climaxes

The climatic section towards the end of the first movement in Sibelius's Symphony No. 2 is very moving. He takes the somber second theme of the piece and alters it by transforming it into a majestic, triumphant brass fanfare.

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

It's hard to believe how German, in both style and form, this piece sounds for being written by a Russian composer. One could mistake this ...

Brahms- Clarinet Sonata No. 1 in F minor, Op. 120 (orchestration by L. Berio): II. Andante un poco adagio Reiner Wehle, clarinet with the Philharmonisches Orchester under Hansestadt Lubeck I find Berio's transcription of this piece very effective, composed with a rather Brahmsian orchestration chara...
