Zachtay, did this happen on your concert? I'm curious to know. Thanks!

Re: Harp Parts
I've heard of a lot of large instruments: * subcontrabass flute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9Nz0UGuQyc * subcontrabass sax: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtWqOyFcMwU * bass horn (it's really a tuba): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bC3UvJpxXO8 * subcontrabass recorder: http://www.youtube.com/wa...

Re: Haydn Horn Concerto No.1 in D Hob. VIId:3 (Score/Parts)
I uploaded a new version: * The page turns in the parts should be better, but the music may be a bit compressed. * The page size is now 9x12 inches. I assume you'll be printing on A4 paper, but hopefully the music won't be too small when scaling down. * Margins are wider. * "Solo" and &quo...

Re: Haydn Horn Concerto No.1 in D Hob. VIId:3 (Score/Parts)
I've uploaded the first draft. I did a very quick listen and added some rehearsal marks though surely they're not optimal. I also noticed that I neglected to name the instruments at the start of the score so I'll need to to correct that. I'll have some time this weekend to work on it.

Sorry, Zachtay, I removed your email address -- we don't allow private filesharing, even though the purpose of it might be sound and legal. I'm sure you can proofread from uploaded files. I apologize. I'll upload the first draft this evening after work. A few things that would be nice to add: - reh...

Re: Mozart Piano Concerto (24) Horns in Eb/Trumpet in C?
IS the convention still relevant today, there would not be any accidentals notated for different keys? Not a horn or trumpet player so can't say with certainty, but I think that in modern orchestral works the convention still holds but for band stuff they now use key signatures like any other instr...

I've uploaded the score. The copyright team still needs to review it. Take a look when that's done.

Re: Haydn Horn Concerto No.1 in D Hob. VIId:3 (Score/Parts)
Will be great if we could get hold of the score and parts before our March 31 concert, will greatly appreciate any help you could provide! I'd love to help create the parts if you could get a hold of a public domain score. I have an Eulenburg score (E.E. 6168, 1960?) edited by Christa Landon, but I...

Re: Proposal: The IMSLP Orchestra
I've started looking at the horn parts. In the third movement the horns have the section at the beginning (with the whole orchestra) repeated a few times throughout. The 2nd horn's section is different in two spots: after 'B' and at 'G' where it has a b instead of a g. Both notes are in the chord, b...

Re: Transposing horn notation
"The comments in the other thread were useful too - so horn players are used to transposing on the spot..." I dont believe that's accurate. The horn is a transposing instrument; a part written for Horn in F will sound a perfect 5th lower than written. Key signatures or lack of same have n...

Re: Transposing horn notation
This is pretty common for horn parts of the era. No matter the pitch of the horn, key signatures were not included. There was a discussion recently on the lilypond mailing list about this that may explain a bit more (Here's one post from the thread: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/lilypond-user/20...

Re: iPad app for IMSLP: Thoughts/Preferences
It may be worth investigating automatically orienting the page. This is a common operation for text documents. Leptonica provides some facilities for doing this (see http://www.leptonica.com/papers/skew-measurement.pdf and http://tpgit.github.com/Leptonica/flipdetect_8c_source.html ). I imagine some...

Creative Commons has been exploring other licences in order to get as close to public domain as possible for those countries (see http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/). I don't think they're suggesting general use for it yet though.
