Re: Considering other backends for IMSLP
The problem with these is that they're not wikis. I fully concede (how could I not?) that there are many people here who have been here waaay longer than me and know the ins and outs much more intimately, but as far as I can see, the IMSLP is fully, wholly, and utterly collaborative, and that means...

Considering other backends for IMSLP
IMSLP has been using MediaWiki to serve its 30,000+ scores and it works. Feldmahler has spent a huge amount of time getting it that way, and thanks to him, we have a website to browse and download sheet music. However, it's apparent that we're pushing the bounds of what MediaWiki was meant for and d...

Re: iPhone App
Again, an API would be nice. Actually, a "real" database would be nicer, and would probably be a prereq for an API.

Re: Project Stravinsky: Complete pre-1923 works now available
I've rehosted the pre-1923 works on my own site for easier access to each one:
http://aztekera.com/music/stravinsky.xml
It was more of an experiment in XML+XSLT, but hopefully the scores will be useful to you.

Re: Program to strip CDSM logos
In going through some of the Cello and Piano items you processed, I noticed that it program missed a fair number of logos. Especially take a look at the Beethoven Op. 47. There are some isolated pages with logos on Bloch's Schlomo. Thanks for that heads up. Admittedly, I haven't had the time to pro...

IN Harmony: Sheet music from Indiana
IN Harmony is a database of sheet music held by four partner institutes in Indiana: Indiana Historical Society Indiana State Library Indiana State Museum Lilly Library, Indiana University Is this something that we've looked at before? Is this something we could assimilate? http://webapp1.dlib.indian...

Re: Splitt PDF page into 2 equal halfs
With Imagemagick, do
That will split original.tiff straight down the middle into newpage-0.tiff and newpage-1.tiff.
Code: Select all
convert original.tiff -crop 50%x100% newpage.tiff

Re: Plate harvesting script
Ask for an IMSLP api while you're at it.
Think you could share these lists?perlnerd666 wrote:Yes indeed. I now carry around lists for plate numbers of those precise publishers (Richault, Ricordi) to date things (come as they do .

Corrupt violin-methods_studies1.zip
Can somebody confirm for me that ftp://imslp.org/logo_infested/CDSM/viol ... udies1.zip is corrupt? I downloaded it and could not extract any of it, although it IS a zip file.

Re: Program to strip CDSM logos
We don't like to keep metadata. The bookmarks are OK as long as there's nothing proprietary included. BTW, I downloaded your cleaned files and they came up as "damaged and unreadable". I use Acrobat Pro version 8 (Mac OS). Try again. I had an issue where my WiFi adapter would overheat fro...

[FEAT] IMSLP API?
Is there some kind of machine-readable interface or API to the IMSLP database? That is, some way that a native client could access data from IMSLP in XML or other machine-parseable format, thus saving load on Mediawiki and headaches on the programmer?
Not a pressing issue, by any means.

Re: Petrucci Library Press
It would be nice if a Serenissima representative would add some details in this forum about their printing process, planned catalog size, company, etc. This reminds me of the Mutopia project, who offer a similar service. Mutopia offer printed scores (although they barely have anything right now) in ...

Re: Program to strip CDSM logos
Any guidelines or best practices to keeping bookmarks and/or metadata? Or do we not care?
