Re: Program to strip CDSM logos
So using a script that basically does the procedure outlined in my second post, my computer processed the contents of "CelloCD Works" (about 135 PDFs... there is going to be a very happy cellist soon ) in about 30 minutes. However, it's not problem-free. Once in a while, a lone page w...

Re: Kindle
I got my Tablet PC for 300 USD off of eBay, which might be an option for you. I'm not too happy with how locked-down the Kindle is... for one thing, you need to convert PDFs to their proprietary format before you can display them on the Kindle. Sony's ebook reader is comparatively open wrt file form...

Re: Program to strip CDSM logos
And what's the system for keeping track of which ones need to be processed and which ones are cleaned? Is there a "cleaned" directory I need to copy/move them to or something like that?

Re: Program to strip CDSM logos
Blah. Rewrote the search algorithm to be less dumb, because apparently I wasn't paying attention in my algorithms course or we didn't cover string searching. It's now three times faster. New version is at http://files.aztekera.com/music/magic20090809.zip Oustanding. Have you done any complete scores...

April is in my Mistress' Face - Morley
April is in my Mistress' Face Thomas Morley SATB Madrigal w/ second verse added by Thomas Oliphant Oliver Ditson Company Theodore Presser Co Distributors Catalog no. 332-14623 ? I don't know much about this, besides that it belonged to a band director at school. Looks pretty old to me  but ther...

Re: Program to strip CDSM logos
Naively. It looks for a hardcoded linear pattern that should only match the logo. Since the logos were added after they scanned them, it works (as far as I can tell).daphnis wrote:Can you describe (in prose) how its detection method works?

Re: Program to strip CDSM logos
Booted into Windows, so now I have a win32 build: http://files.aztekera.com/music/cdsmrm20090807win32.zip Should run without any additional magic. However, you cannot drag'n'drop multiple files onto the exe on account my failure to include globbing. For globbing, you can use parallelize.pl from my f...

Re: Program to strip CDSM logos
Oh, and some usage notes for my and others' future reference. Given cdsmrm and parallelize.pl in $PATH, the workflow is something like: Extract images from PDF: (caution: some PDFs are not so simple, such as where CDSM retypeset pages!) pdfimages BestSongEver.pdf bse This extracts all images to bse-...

Program to strip CDSM logos
A colleague and I cooked up a program to strip CDSM logos only from the CDSM scans. Written in C++, it can detect and white-out two different size logos: the standard logo and a slightly smaller version. It's decently fast. Using a quad-core processer, I was able to process 61 pages in 23 secs. Sour...

I think the Kindle's screen is a tad small, but I'm eagerly awaiting near-letter-size e-ink displays at affordable costs.

Re: stripping logos from scanned PDF files
Is there any place for those of us who are not as computer savvy to learn about all these things (i.e. unlocking, automated logo removal, etc.)? I just purchased three of the OM timp/percussion CDs and am trying to figure out how to do all this stuff but honestly have no clue what I'm doing. Or wou...

Re: Hands free wireless page turning device
I've seen these glowing unsolicited posts about AirTurn on other music websites too. I suppose it's spam, except that the product may have some relevance and that somebody is manually sitting at his computer trying to drum up business. Regardless, it's also in the wrong forum. Can we close or move t...

Offering PDF editing/correction/help
I'm a big fan of IMSLP and have been using it for a while now. I love that I have one non-profit place that I can find most scores I need. I don't have scores to contribute myself, but since my forte is computer graphics and automation, I thought I'd offer help with creating PDFs. So, if you need ra...
