Re: [FEAT] Composer biography link autocorrection

But specifically when the page is being created, won't it still put extra brackets around it (e.g. make it [[[wikipedia:Franz_Schreker|Wikipedia]]] if you just enter two on each end) as a result of the current automation?

[FEAT] Composer biography link autocorrection

I know this isn't exactly major, but in order to save unnecessary edits (and wasted server space), could there be some automatic method of correcting the link you put in when you're creating a composer page? To illustrate: -Putting in an external link- you have to just put in the link w/out formatti...

J.H.Kapteijn

Does anyone know what his dates are, or even what his initials stand for? I'm guessing Johan, but I'm not going to put anything up (from free-sheetmusic.org) until I'm absolutely positive of the name. He was the organist for St. Jacob's in someplace called Gravenhage, and probably has been dead for ...

Works of Carl Bohm

Does anyone know the copyright status of Bohm's La Zingana, Sarabande, Spanish Serenade, or The Rain? I ask because although he died in 1920, some of his stuff appears to have been published a few years posthumously.

Re: Which kind of sheet music files you prefer

That's very interesting, I always thought they just used SCORE. So I could customize Finale 2005a and produce published-looking scores! 8) Well, maybe not, but it could be possible, at least.

Re: Mahler, Overrated?

Not everybody can handle empassioned music about death and God himself. (the latter being the music of Bruckner….the biggest thing the Brahms lacks and the biggest thing I look for in a composer) I don't agree that you're done here. You still haven't provided a rational argument as to why Brahms is...

Re: Mahler, Overrated?

Mahler is definitely overrated. He's much better than Bruckner (who couldn't even orchestrate and should also be added to the list of most boring composers ever), but not even close to the level of the more subtle and imaginative Richard Strauss (or a bunch of others, for that matter). I'd like to s...

Re: Louis Laporte

Interesting, I wonder how they got their hands on it...so you guessed his dates as 1850-1930? This is slightly irregular, but your guess is probably not far off...I probably shouldn't have uploaded it in the first place. Thanks!

Louis Laporte

I found something by him on Sibley and want to mirror it, but I can't find his dates. All I know is that the work was published in 1892 by Bornemann.
Does anyone know?

'Genre' entry for a work page

What should I select for a ballade for piano with spoken voice? None of the available categories exactly fit...would 'Lieder' be the closest?

Re: Opinions about Schoenberg

I would say pretty much the same thing about Schoenberg as Stockhausen- he wasn't very talented as a musician, just as an innovator, and was merely trying to be interesting. Both of his major pupils were superior; in fact, Webern was probably one of the greatest composers since his time. Although ma...

Re: Old file version removal

Ah. I looked at the URLs to the old files, and they included the folder 'archive', so I assumed that files were backed up somewhere as a measure against vandalism. Unless only the original uploader can upload a new version?
In any case, thanks.
