RSL Manuscript scans
The Russian State Library has got some manuscript scans up on its website, but they appear to be embedded in some sort of flash protocol. They're not very high quality (they look about 150dpi to me), so they're obviously not using something similar to zoomify. Here's their scan of the autograph of M...

Mozart: fragment of K.331 autograph
The National Széchényi Library in Budapest have digitised the section of the autograph of Mozart Sonata in A, K.331 which was discovered in their collection last year. [See the dedicated website here: http://mozart.oszk.hu/index_en.html ] Just wondering what the copyright status of those four images...

Re: Status request, Graupner Double Concerto
Yes, it's a fairly ridiculous state of affairs that someone can copyright a 300-year-old work (or, at least, claim to do so) simply by being fortunate enough to publish it before anyone else. I presume, then, that I could potentially claim editio princeps for the few Graupner cantatas I've edited. N...

Status request, Graupner Double Concerto
Just wondering about potential copyright status of Concerto for 2 Violins in G minor, GWV 335 by Christoph Graupner. It was published by A-R Editions in 1996 - but also seems to have been copied out twice by Friedrich Noack (about 1942?). Both of Noack's copies (Mus Ms 1729) have been digitised by U...

Re: Copyright status, Telemann concerto
Right now, I'm focusing on getting some Graupner scores finished - Two cantatas and Violin Concerto. I'm pottering away at the Telemann as I have time - I have the whole of the first movement (by far the longest) typeset, though. I've had to make quite a few corrections to the source, though. One pa...

Re: Copyright status, Telemann concerto
Well, the only known source is a set of parts - very importantly, not autograph. In fact, they contain so many errors that they can't possibly be. Does that settle the matter then?

Copyright status, Telemann concerto
Just wondering about the copyright status of a Telemann work, Violin Concerto in A Major, TWV 51:A4 'Die Relinge'. It appears to have been first recorded in 1999 under Philip Pickett, and published in a critical edition in 2001. Does making a new edition from the source (a set of parts in Rheda) vio...

Re: Lost works you would most like to hear or find the score
Evidently, over 100 cantatas by J.S. Bach are lost, and I often wonder what those were like. One can only imagine how much wonderful music has been lost, possibly never to be heard again.

Re: Searching Mozart Oboe concerto k 314 Manuscript and Fial
Apologies in advance for reviving an old thread! There is a colour reproduction of the sketch in question in the NMA Skizzen volume (X/30/3), where it is referred to as Skb 1777α. It would also appear that at some point between 1986 (when the Kritischer Bericht volume was published) and 1998 (when t...

Instrument names: Concerti Grossi, etc.
I've noticed that some Italian instrument names in 17th- and 18th-century instrumental parts (particularly sets of Concerti Grossi) are often translated inaccurately. "Violino Primo", for instance, should really be translated as "Violin 1\I", rather than "Violin s 1\I":...

The Prologue to Dido and Aeneas: it seems nobody has seen or heard it in about 300 years.

Actually, Stanford was born (and grew up) in Dublin, which would make him Irish (and, he would have said, British). Sorry to be such a nerd.Eric wrote:Charles Villiers Stanford 1852-1924, English

Re: IMSLP website(s) not working for me?
Hrm. Where's "Wikidot" and who on Facebook is causing this ruckus? I really don't know who originated it. A good few of my friends shared it (as did I at first), before it became evident that the letter was from six (!!) years ago! I think people saw the site was down, someone stumbled ac...

Re: IMSLP website(s) not working for me?
There's a minor incident happening on Facebook at the moment, actually. Somehow, Feldmahler's original letter from 2007 is being shared as current, with the expected ensuing of panic and lamentation. How very odd.
