Feldmahler-

If I could just add my $.02:

In my humble opinion, the IMSLP is a priceless gift to humanity. I believe that your efforts make the world a better place, and I see this as no less a contribution to cosmopolitan society than Project Gutenberg, Wikipedia, or the GNU. Quite frankly, I am awestruck.

Even more remarkable is that you took on this challenge while in college (I haven't seen a distinction elsewhere, so I am guessing undergraduate, though you seem much too bright for that), and then didn't drop it when threatened with legal action. Bravo. And I completely agree with your decision to not settle for a "watered down" version (MLK: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." In other words, I would take such a version as a direct threat to intellectual freedom-- much the same as censored Google in China).

In any case, a most heartfelt and sincere thank you to all of you who contribute. There just might be hope for mankind yet.

While cats are indeed cute, I can't speak for Feldmahler having never seen him.

This is a pointless ad hominem that does not further any situation. If you have a gripe about IMSLP put in in an argument form. If you have gripe against Feldmahler, don't publish it publicly, and if you wish to say something, actually construct an argument around it and word it politely.

No further conduct in such a way.

I'm not getting into "it is - it isn't" war. You are clearly misinformed. If you do anything of the sorts again you will be temporarily banned.

The Second Coming of IMSLP

Post by aldona »

Wouldn't it be nice to have a banner, or something... "___ Days Until IMSLP Returns."

Further thoughts on the return of IMSLP....

Are we going to throw some kind of party or official (re)launch function?

Will there be pizza and beer (or Diet Coke for those boring people like me who don't drink)?

Will we be inviting our favourite people and special friends e.g. those who work for large European music publishing firms?

Can we have a Schubert-Lieder karaoke night?

Are we allowed to bring fireworks?

Bah!
those who work for large European music publishing firms?
That would be so much fun...

We should do something, but take into account, there will be a lot of work to do once it comes back online...

Two months?! Yay, I was expecting something like the end of the year, at least.

Now that there's a specific date set, every day will feel like a year itself.

I will download the cello suites and have a 24 hour celebratory repeated run-through :)

Really though, glad to hear it's been nailed down

Very cool to have a return date. I'm looking forward to more details.

Sounds like fun. Although I don't even drink diet coke. I'll bring lemonade :).

What about those of us who do drink? We are musicians after all... drink is essential! If only for our image.

Whiskey!

Those who play wind instruments, yes! Leaving the matter of stereotyping aside, I think it's great IMSLP will be back so soon. Good luck!

Hello

Waiting for a good thing can never be too long.

But while feeling bored by the lack of IMSLP and by
the time which is left until July 1-st -

just try the NEXT-BEST solution:

http://icking-music-archive.org/

You will not find quite as many scores and sheet
music on Werner Ickings archive as you could have
found on IMSLP, but just to use the waiting time,
you might find it worth investigating on that site
instead of just doing nothing at all.

Regards from
