Irregular paper size

Post by haydenmuhl »

I have some scores that I'm about to scan, but they don't really fit any standard paper size as far as I can tell. They're larger than A4 and much smaller than A3. Should I resize them down to one of the standard paper sizes? If not, what size should the pages of the PDF be? Do I just leave them cropped to irregular sizes?

My suggestion would be to crop the images close to the music to eliminate as much of the "white space" border as possible. This way if someone wishes to print the score they can instruct their PDF reader to shrink or fit the images to the printable area based on whatever size paper they are using and the software's calculation won't be thrown off by that empty border.
