Nikolaus von Krufft Horn Sonata

Post by Puzzi22 »

I want to upload the Krufft Horn Sonata in E Major (original key). I've got a photocopy of the piano score (without the horn line) from Breitkopf's second edition (1836). The Horn part was retypesetted by the publisher (Birdalone Music, Copyright 1997) for the purpose of clarity, but without any alteration to notes, phrasing, or dynamics. Can I scan the horn part and upload it to IMSLP if I remove any logos and traces of the recent publisher?

Here is the complete copyright notice: Copyright 1997 Birdalone Music/International copyright secured. Printed in the U.S.A. All rights reserved. KRU01

Thank you!

Short answer: Yes. As kind as they are to typeset a piece of music that has entered the public domain, a simple typeset lends no change to the character and is thus not eligible for copyright.
