Moderation

Hi Philidor, Ben,

I just commented on one of the journal posts (from my iPhone, incidentally) and immediately noticed that comments require moderation before appearing – certainly the recommended refreshing of the page did not show the comment, so moderation is obviously “on”, and intervention by a moderator is required for it to appear. How is this implemented – the usual method of one-time approval for each individual poster, whose subsequent posts are automatically approved?

Regards, PML

Posting quickly from a dodgy internet connection in Wales (!) I agree. I'll sort it out Sunday.

Sorry PML I see now you asked a question, to which I responded "I agree" which is never helpful. :roll:

Yes, that should be how it works.

This should be how it works. My suggestion would be to write another comment, and see if it works. If it doesn't, then there is something wrong and we will change moderation.

Note: You don't need to sign your name when you post a comment, since it says your name right above the comment ;)

I'm quite happy making my marks as often as I choose, thanks for the suggestion. :-}

I'm afraid it was deleted. We've had quite a lot of spam from time to time, so there is a guideline about relevance. We get a lot of posts like "thanks for the post", and some of those come with adverts or user profiles that advertise handbag sales computer services etc. I obviously can't access the post now because it is gone, but the comment in the moderation log says it was of minimal relevance.

I'm sorry about that, but people do get annoyed if the posts don't stay on topic and add substantially to the discussion, or are just a way to advertise other stuff.
