Pachelbel, Kyrie in tablature

Post by steltz »

I am tagging this, and I added a (perhaps too lengthy) extract from Grove Music to the work page. The next question is: is this a chorale based on a Kyrie, in which case it would be tagged "chorale", or is it a Kyrie, to be tagged as such. The problem is that I can't read this tablature, and have no idea what I'm looking at.

I’d say go with chorale preludes unless someone who can read tablature can decipher it. If it is a setting of the Kyrie it can still quote the well-known chorale melody, but then we’d be looking at an organ accompaniment for a vocal work without knowing anything about the rest of it; hence my suggestion to go with a known tag rather than a speculative one.

Cheers Philip
