On the work page, it says:

"The author stresses this is not a treatise on playing the 'Cello, but just a series of remarks".

Therefore not a method either.

Can it just be tagged "writings"?

Would "performance practice" be appropriate (if it's about playing the instrument), or "organology" if it's about the mechanics? Both of these are sub-categories of "writings".
