Handel, excerpt from Alexander's Feast

Post by steltz »

Handel's "Lobet Gott mit Jubelschall" has remained untagged for a couple of years, because no one could work out what it was from.

I found it now, and either the editor or arranger changed the words to make it a sacred chorus, but it actually is "Happy happy happy pair" from Part I of Alexander's Feast.

From what I can see, the music is exactly the same, but transposed to a different key. Only the words are different.

Keep it on a separate page, or put it with Alexander's Feast as an arrangement?

Congratulations on solving the mystery! It should really be on the Alexander's Feast page, with a mention of the German title in the notes field of the file.
