Some people cant see the need for anything other than PDF
Some people cant see.
That's why other formats are required. And non proprietary ones too - MusicXML works quite well.

http://www.musopen.com looks promising too

Very interesting discussion, but I have these questions:
  • Does imslp.org currently accept .MUS or .SIB uploads?
  • If so, are they accepted from all users, or just from a certain class of user?
  • Is the meaning of the term "Deprecated" explained somewhere on the IMSLP website?

1.) Only as attachments to the PDFs generated by them.
2.) Any members per #1.
3.) Not specifically, just that it refers to these formats are to be avoided.
