Four Score and More and OpenScore LiederCorpus

Post by kosboot »

Some of us may have received this message which I would think is of interest to IMSLP regulars:

Dear colleagues,

I am writing to draw your attention to ‘Scores of Scores’: a massive encoding project which will provide public domain, encoded scores of 19th century lieder for all purposes.
https://fourscoreandmore.org/scores-of-scores/
https://musescore.com/openscore-lieder-corpus

If you have ever made any lieder encodings then please consider ‘donating’ them to this collective effort. Likewise, if you or your students might like to contribute new encodings to the effort, then please do so. Instructions are provided here:

Perhaps this might be consistent with a class you run?

Additionally, any help in spreading the word would be much appreciated. We have just begun to use the hashtag #ScoresOfScores to that effect.

The next project (already underway) will automate harmony and counterpoint exercises using those encoded scores. Watch this space:

Finally, there will be a conference / hackathon to mark the launch on June 19. Do join us if you happen to be in the UK at the time:

Thanks for your attention.

Very best,
Mark
