Rossini 6 Sonatas a Quattro

The wind transcription of this piece (Berr) is stated as being for flute, clarinet, horn, and bassoon. It appears to me, however, that the part given as the horn part is actually a bass clarinet part.

The horn parts look legitimate, sounding a 5th lower than written (treble clef), and with the (older) traditional lack of key signature. Bass clarinet would sound an octave and one whole step lower than written, and would have a key signature one whole step higher than concert pitch.

Believe me, as someone who did a research paper about it, there was no chamber music with a bass clarinet part that was published at that time.
(Unless you mean basset horn, which is a whole different kettle)
