is anybody still using usenet AKA an nntp server?

Over the years all internet access providers removed the nntp server they were offering to their subscribers. One that remained and that was independent was news.aioe.org. But since yesterday it does not respond. Am I the only one with the trouble? Are there any other public newsgroup servers that work?
