Learning to compose impressionist music

I'm trying to compose some pieces inspired by "Impressionist" composers on classical guitar. Though they were mostly pianists, I think composing impressionist music for guitar could bring it into some new territory.
I'm looking for books/essays/articles etc that provide theory analysis of impressionist pieces so that I can learn from the techniques used. I am still early in music school and my own theory analysis is somewhat limited, so I'd like to see some scholarly perspectives.
