violin triple and quadruple stops?

These Suzuki violin school books make me play triple stops and even quadruple stops! How on earth do i do that?

You'll have to break each chord into two parts. Finger all 3 or 4 notes at once, but play the lower 2 alone and slur them into the upper 2. (It is possible to press hard enough to play a triple stop without breaking, but I wouldn't rely on this. In addition you may sometimes be required to play the upper two notes first, whether because of a voicing consideration [e.g., some passages in Bach] or because it's specifically notated that way.) While doing this you should pay especial attention to the height of the elbow of your bowing arm as a smooth motion in your upper arm and careful delineation of the 'level' you use for each string will make a huge difference in the quality of sound you produce.
