Barlow/Morgenstern Dictionary of Musical Themes

Post by Eric »

My family has a copy of this 1948/9 book with a large number of (the webpage I just found says 9825) themes by (150+) composers (a fair number fairly unsung now (Myaskovsky, Zimablist, Daquin, others...)) and so I went searching on the net to see if my recollection was right that it was the interesting book I remembered from all those readings and re-readings.

Anyhow, apparently "by special arrangement" with the publishers someone(s) have been allowed to create MIDIs of all of them. (!) Since they don't seem to be asking for money for access, having happened on the site I thought I'd provide the link... (Barlow died in 1993 and Morgenstern in 1989, or I'd recommend scanning in the book for IMSLP-CA. Well, eventually. 2044 or so, if the laws haven't changed.)

Er... ok. Barlow MIDI library...
