I'm listening to Chopin Prelude Op.28 No.15 performed by Vladimir Horowitz. Anything by Chopin is sensational, the most beautiful piano composer ever. I love Chopin!!!

Can't better the quote from Carl Spazier in the sleeve notes - "...wrings ardent admiration from connoisseurs and astonishment from ordinary audiences..."

I was listening to a recording of Frederico Agostini playing Vivaldi's "Winter" from the 4 Seasons. Thought it was incredibly befitting of the cold, chilly atmosphere here in Chicago. :D

Well, I had a deadline to meet that was 10 hours away so created a playlist of all the Beethoven piano sonatas in chronological order so that Friedrich Gulda and I would finish about the same time!. Its going well. Sometimes, the music just provides a wonderful background environment but at other times it calls itself to my attention and there is one of those moments where you just have to stop what you are doing and listen. The first movement of the 7th just stopped me working for a few minutes - I suspect as we get into the later ones this is going to happen more often!

Donizetti: Anna Bolena, 1st Act. Streamed live from the MET opera via WQXR. So far so good. Then again, haven't heard any tenors yet.

Wagner - Gotterdammerung - 2nd act - Broadcast LIVE from the MET in NYC over WQXR. Good performance so far. The singing not nearly as bad as portrayed in the local reviews of the production's debut.

My Pandora "opera" station. Renee Fleming is singing an aria from Norma right now.

I've already managed to get Andre Bocelli off the station. I wonder how many times I will have to downvote Puccini before Pandora gets the hint.

Good work on Bocelli. You are to be thanked. But I'm going head-to-head with you on Puccini :)

Well, Beethoven is my favorite. But I have to admit recently I have been listening and playing the music of Ludovico Einaudi. Don't ask me why, maybe I just needed a break from all the heavy classics. Einaudi's compositions are rather simple in construction and they do tend to wear on you rather quickly. But they were a pleasant excursion.

Bach: Concerto In D Minor For 2 Violins, BWV 1043, "Double" - 2. Largo Ma Non Tanto. Nice quiet, peaceful, slightly drowsy music that gets me in the mood for doing notes on Debussys for my exams...
