Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet Transcription

Post by taekimpiano »

Hello!
I'm thinking of publishing (on IMSLP) my own transcription of several movements from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet for viola and piano. Considering the piece itself is not PD in the US and the EU would my transcription be non public domain as well? Thank you for your time.
Best,

Your transcription could not be used in the US or EU until the copyright on the original piece expires, but since the piece is in the public domain in Canada, your transcription could be listed on IMSLP (since it would be uploaded to a server based in Canada). Your transcription can be used 100% legally anywhere the original piece is in the public domain.
